2024 Released Players & City transfer rumours

McDonald was actually one of the five names mentioned by Simon Parker ages ago as being told that they could go. The others were Taylor, Odusina, Oliver and Wilson.

They are the only five names reliably mentioned anywhere as far as I know.

 

They’re not smart enough down at VP to really make a statement. It’s smoke and mirrors the Rupp letter, this signing always designed to appease. Sorry I can see straight through it.

Halliday is a great player, but he was under contract going no where. Could this bit of business not of waited until the season is underway or is it an easier piece of business to appease fans ahead of Thursday.

 

Not sure which clubs, but I was told yesterday that Brad had agreed a new contract, despite definite league 1 interest.

 

It was very passive aggressive. Might be nap time.

 

TBF he didnt have Young then though.

Afternoon all, first time back to a City forum since the Claret and Banter days... Happy with the Halliday contract extension however announcing it the day after he was used to launch the new Away kit (which I love) felt a bit underwhelming to me and I was left a bit disappointed. For a fan that has to rely on social media and things that the club puts out across various platforms I just wish they would have given us something more tangible for the kit release. Alas, we move on! CTID.

Park made the point about ‘all the rumours’ but I’ve not personally seen or heard any about specific clubs ‘sniffing around’.

Obviously, as you have already pointed out, people would have been interested in him, I’m sure most of us will have known that, but the wording ‘all the rumours’ suggested to me that maybe I’ve missed something that’s been mentioned about ‘x’ club wanting to sign him.

We all can see that Park gets some negative responses on here but mine was a genuine question, not like some of the other comments he receives on here, not intended to come across that way.

Anyway, I’m glad we have got Halliday on a longer contract now, other clubs can stop sniffing.

 

Yep, the way I see it is that we’ll only sign a DM if McDonald goes and we’ll only sign a striker if Oliver goes.

However, we should be signing a LWB and maybe a CB regardless.

 

IMO and I know it won't go down well but I think attacking wise we won't see any more additions.
Cook, Young, Smith and maybe Ibbitson will fight it out for the number 9 role.
Either side we have Kavanagh, Odour, Pointon, Walker, Pattison and Sarcevic.
Defensively we have enough centre backs so can't see anymore adding.
Which leaves upgrades in cover at CDM, unless he sees Johnson as cover for multiple positions, and a first choice LWB, or again, does he see Gilliead in there?
So for me, 2 more additions, a smaller squad, and GA will be more than happy.

 

Agree that we won’t sign a forward unless one (Oliver?) leaves but I think that the same goes for DM as well - we won’t sign one unless McDonald leaves.

A LWB has to be brought in and maybe another CB too.

Wilson to leave too but maybe on loan given that he still had two years left on his deal.

 

It'll be two up top so perm any two from Cook, Young, Kavanagh and Smith with Ibbotson back up if we're really stretched.

 

Id say a centre back is as impressive as a LWB. For me we are just as short in both areas.

 

Totally agree, I was saying this the other week but a few were convinced we still had 7 or 8 signings to go. I'm sure the GA/ Baldwin interview even confirmed that we're not looking to sign many

 

Deffo a CB. We have 4 in the squad, plus our back up right back and we play 3!!!

 

At least with those we hopefully won’t have strikers bumping in to each other.

 

this youngster everyone keeps banging on about, Ibbertson? I think. What's the catch with him?

I aint knocking the lad by any means, I hope he has an illustrious career for us and/or other teams but like having him as an attacking option for our squad next season seems a stretch to me

When was the last time a youth academy prospect was competing for an striking slot in the side? Mcburnie perhaps? an yes, he may of played in the PL last season, but he was poor for us.

Moral of the story, I wouldn't count him as an option. We have 5 strikers on the books : Cook, Kav, Young, Smith an Oliver. Most likely Oliver will go, maybe Smith as well. So we need someone else to be brought in there
