We have Kelly too who is building up his experience in the league. He too can give the ball away and make mistakes. Could be a risk if both are in the starting 11.

Our Defence is clearly the weakest area of our team but I’m not sure Byrne or Baldwin address any of our issues other than being competent squad fillers. Johnson and Sarcevic are exactly the type of players we need to go for although how much they have actually strengthen the first 11 is up for debate given the players we already have available in their respective positions.

Think we need two quality Centre Back’s minimum but just can’t see it now, especially if Oyegoke is one of them.

Signing a CB from a team with the worst defence last season does not show any ambition. But as usual, we can only judge when he plays for us. Hope his reputation doesn’t precede him

I agree, and I think @Faithful Bantam has said the same. We are recruiting winners, ie players who have been involved in promotion. So character more than anything. Toughies who don’t give up. I know it was a non league play off semi, but Baldwin was having non of it, stepped forward and had a crack at scoring and turned their fortunes around. We have lacked that kind of mentality for many a long season. Yes we need a bit of quality as well, but we also need a ruthlessness to win. Our 2013 was full of characters, none of them you would say on their own were top notch players, but they played for the fans and each others and were full of guts and determination.

 

Yeah this one looks like a poor signing.

Never mind, good luck to the lad, hope the next one is better.

 

Looking at it, it seems our business is nearly done. Maybe one more Centre back, a left back then everything else depends on outgoings

I'd be interested how many other major errors he's made besides this. This is obviously very memorable and might stick clearly in the minds of Notts fans to give the 'error prone' tag.

But if this is evidence of his "errors", I'm not actually concerned. Whilst it doesn't look good, a slip is a slip and can happen to anyone. But if this happens every other week then I'd be concerned lol.

 

It wasn't, they were bloody awful as a defensive unit, anyone remember when they played us? 4 up at half time but second half we had enough chances to win the game. I'm not gonna hang individuals out to dry though, it was clearly a manager asking the players to play a level of football they just weren't capable of, alright pissing about with at the back in the National league but you get punished the higher up you go.
I'll reserve judgement till he's played a good number of games for us, playing a season in the national league in a team far better than every other team bar one and a shitshow of a season last season in league 2 isn't a lot to go on.

 

The only City fans to have seen him play are those who went to County away. Remember the score? He had Cookie pretty much in his pocket . I think Andy had one near miss , marked by another defender , otherwise he didn’t get a sniff . It’s our defence that needed overhaul IF our results last season are the benchmark. 7-2 to them was it not?

If you're talking about the 4-2 game, Kevin, there are few finer examples of a side that can attack but were utterly hopeless in defence.

Anyway, whatever, what will be will be, he won't be playing on paper or in last years Notts defence, so good luck to him.
