I can see us selling either Young or Smith, then it's ones like Kev Mac that will be harder to shift

Terribly rash statement and massively unfair to compare young Dan to the likes of Gavin & Rehman who were seasoned pro's. He really came into his own in the last part of the season and was integral to our winning run

 

At least two more centre halves please. I wouldn't be against Richards filing in now and again but we still need another right sided centre half as no matter what anyone on here believes, Johnson is completely unproven in that role and could easily be a disaster. I'd much rather us have a tried and tested, proper center half in the right side and then Johnson can fight for a place in the 3 positions he covers.

There's also only 23 senior players in your squad list (I'm not including Wadsworth and Hadi) so surely room for another 3.

 

Start panicking come August if the posistions aint been filled but we aint in June yet

 

Richards filling in as a centre back would be as smart as putting Rides in the back 3. Not a chance for me Dave.

Bang on post bud its never about the budget its about how we spend it an issue that has kept us at this level for how long.

 

He played there at Wolves. It's only since he came here that he's been used at full back/LWB.

 

I really struggle to rate him in the starting 11 Dave, never mind as a centre back . He only showed glimpses of “ There’s a player in there somewhere” . Certainly inconsistent …..Funny how it’s possible not to warm to a player ? His demeanour reminds me of Odour?

 

I'm with you on this. If he is one of the ones that ends up leaving or going out on loan I certainly won't be disappointed.

 

I'm not saying I rate him or that he should pay there Kev, just mentioning that he did come to us as a centre half by trade.

 

Agree, but I can’t see how he’d play as a c/b except in junior football perhaps?

 

If we want promotion , we can’t accept players that have a “decent” game 1 out of 5.

Perhaps I’m being unfair , but he was nowhere “near” after his injury return .

Agreed Kev, I'm happy with Richards only if we get another LWB to compete with him and not gilly or a winger filling in there

Would not fancy trying Richards at centre half. I think he's too weak defensively even for left back in a back four, I genuinely thought that Notts county game might be the last time we saw him he was that poor. He'll do as second choice LWB for me

 

Callum Johnson in interview, states Alexander had a chat with him and asked him what his preferred role is and he freely admits he sees himself primarily as a right back who likes to get forward

 

That's fine but we're all touting Johnson as a centre half despite very rarely having played there and dismissing Richards as a centre half despite it being his natural position coming through at Wolves and having never seen him play there for us.

I'm not saying either one is right or wrong btw, just pointing out that it doesn't really make much sense when you think about it.

 

I think everyone can see that Johnson will play most of his games here at RCB, touch wood halliday is able to play every game for us. He's got a good chance of making that RCB spot his own but he'll only ever play at RB in cup games. Best case scenario is that he's a capable centre half whilst being cover for RB
