We are offering a two year deal to him-1 year in lge 2 and (hopefully) 1 year in league 1-so he could have chosen lge 1 for now at a higher wage or does he think Stockport will come straight back down so is hedging his bets to be in Lge 1 with us and possible extend the deal further?

 

The midfield must now be one of the strongest next season? Keep Walker and Patto fit and we have a really dynamic and mobile midfield there.

Looks a promising signing and adds some more depth to the middle of the pitch. He should allow us to control the minutes of Pattison and Walker a lot more to hopefully get the through a season.

I would expect he'll be competition for the right sided number 8 positions if we play the same 352 we ended last season and be rotated with Pattison and Walker with Gilliead (and McDonald if he stays) as cover for Smallwood.

I think most will agree he will be taking a back seat going forward. He has a lot to offer another team if he wants a consistent first team role. Dare I say another Hartlepool candidate?

 

Id seriously consider him for LWB if role needs filling. He has a real engine for that role. I was fairly impressed with him when he played it last season.

We will sign a LWB but he can fight it out.

 

Too early to call. Smallwood is nailed on but his 2 partners in the middle will come down to who impresses in pre season.

Then it will be who can consistently perform when they get a starting shirt. I see alot more rotation next year, just like Stockport did. They had 5 or 6 in the middle that changed game to game.

Yep I think Pointon is going to drop down the pecking order and will have to put up a fight for his place. Especially if as rumoured another midfielder could be on his way

Agree. With Sarcevic coming in one would assume we will be relying less on Gilly in CM, although I expect he will still contribute a lot of minutes there throughout the season.

I like Gilly and agree he was decent at LWB. If Wright were to come back, surely between him, Gilly and Richard’s that’s enough depth?
