Matt Smith would be a great signing as a rotation option or even being the foil for Cook.

Imagine swinging balls into the box with those two in there? Centre halves would have a nightmare.

 

Who was that left back we had about five years ago who we let go and he went a league higher? Looked decent. Scored a great goal I remember. Was earmarked to be the next Meredith at some point. I liked Tyler French. I thought he had something. My main issue, is that we always seem to have a bloated squad, therefore many players don’t get game time to develop. Wilson fits into that thought.

He's just scored 24 in a pretty poor Salford side, got in the team of the season and won every player of the year award at his club..... he's been playing well enough I'd say.

In his post, he said he is taking some time out to consider options as he is looking at opportunities away from playing which to me sounds like he fancies coaching soon enough. He does turn 35 next month.

 

Sorry Jordon I very rarely watch players from other teams thanks for the heads up. He probably would fit into our squad. Not sure of Derbyshire’s situation and whether he is staying on. We seem to have enough player/coaches.

Definitely the type of player we should be looking at. 22 goals is an exceptional return for a CM. It would only take Gilliead and Smallwood 5 seasons to hit that number!!!

If Derbyshire had just netted 24 league goals and made the league two team of the year last term then I'd accept the comparison. As it is, people are just looking at his age and dismissing him without giving it some proper thought.

Let's put it this way, if we moved on Oliver and replaced him with Matt Smith that absolutely strengthens our attacking options.

Cook, Matt Smith, Young and Kavanagh is an excellent mixture of youth, experience, height, pace and power.

 

Even better if a player of his ability is happy to accept a bit part time and combine it with coaching. Saves having a player moping around if he's not getting the game time he thinks he deserves.

 

Let me guess when the season was more or less dead and no pressure on him.
What a shame that it took him near on 2 seasons to start putting good balls in ffs

 

It actually amazes me how all a sudden that these players that have had a good run when it was to late are suddenly now good enough ????,

I can put money when it mattered after Accy away onwards the majority on here would have got rid of at lleasy 70% of this squad.

Now suddenly they are deemed not to bad and we can build on it.

Folk really wanna look before the no pressure end to the season and see how this group performed not an odd spell when it didnt matter.

His set pieces have been absolutely abysmal for 2 seasons. Every time he goes to take one, you can just hear all the fans groaning and saying "f**k f Smallwood...let Bobby or Walker take it". I honestly do not know what game you watch with some of the comments you come out with. Stop clutching at straws

 

Are you thinking about Connor Wood? He was fantastic for us. He left us to go to Leyton Orient, think he is currently at Tranmere

 

Only FIFA players want squad overhauls every summer because that’s the most fun part of the game. In real life, it’s not good for any team to do that. Changes have to be gradual and so no, most wouldn’t want 70% out

 

Wood was good for us but I'm thinking Leigh based on Tallinn's comment about the great goal he scored. Think it was an FA Cup replay but can't remember who we were playing.
