Surely he’s not a “household name” because he’s not very good though? He’s had 2 loan spells into L2 and did nothing. Did Gent actually watch his games for those 2 clubs or just checked his wiki bio, notice he was from Boro and recommended him??

Scoring against under 23yr old defences is one thing, but doing it in L2 is another. Just look at Tyler Smith for proof of that

The kid is 20 years old and has lots of time to improve.
He might come good and like all these signings its a gamble.
Wont have cost much .
Fans are always complaining if we miss out on a local young player that goes on to have a good career
If he flurishes and moves on back up the leagues we are laughing.
Jake young had done very little before this summer and if he had not done so well at Swindon, no one would have batted an eyelid if he had gone.

Just read a few comments by their fans, and they seem to think he was a prospect and a little surprised. Also reading around does n't look like he is a Cook type sub, nor has he come here not to play first team football. Suggests Smith is going to me.

 

You can go back over the last few years and people like your good self having a go at not giving players a chance and guess what a high percentage of the time they turn out to be duds

I hope he proves us wrong but our recent record of these kind of signings end up being piss poor

 

All signings are a gamble, either on loan or perm.
Banks, Critchlow and Wright pretty decent last season, this years have not worked out so well.
Pickford , Burke, Cullen. some work, some dont. Lets just give the lad a chance, that is all you can do with every player.

I am not sure anyone is getting giddy over anything at BCFC at the present time
I think expect the minimum and you might just be surprised in, a good way if not, nothing lost.
