Kavanagh confirmed, 2.5 year deal.

 

Bit of confusion. Simon Parker says that it's a loan until the end of the season but the club statement says a permanent deal until summer 2027

 

Don't be daft. Even Bradford City don't do 2.5 year loan deals .....................

 

Yorkshire Post are also saying it's a perm deal on a 2.5 year contract. The club are saying he's joined for an undisclosed fee. Guessing Parker has cocked up?

Edit: Parker has now changed his listing to a perm deal.

 

Bradford City AFC is delighted to announce the Deadline Day signing of exciting young forward Calum Kavanagh from Middlesbrough, for an undisclosed fee.

 

He is clueless.

 

Got no idea if he's any good but his appalling goal record would suggest not.

 

Young lad, though.

I think despite the clichés at the start of a season, you generally can tell if an older journeyman is any good or not based on their record, but not with a 20 year old.

2.5 year deal is surprising, but I welcome it.

He should be at his best by the time he's 22 - like Jake Young, really!

 

Can't misfire any worse than our current forwards. Probably worth a punt although is a very underwhelming signing

 

He has 20 goals in 28 games for the Boro U21 team, including 5 in 8 games this season in the PL2. Poor record in his L2 runs so far with Newport and Harrogate. Not like he was barely used either in L2, 13 starts at this level from 31 games. Might be struggling to transfer his youth form to the mens game? Didn't Thierry Nevers have a great record at West Ham and Readings U21s?

Always time on his side and we've got another long contract on the books, cant see him making the team much this season unless we have injuries.

Oh come on he is only a young un time to develop. He needs our support. Who knows he might be really good in a couple of year.

Thing is we find signings of this underwhelming simply because he's not an household name.
I'd never heard of him till today.
Give the lad a chance he's young with plenty of football years to come not like Derbyshire at the end of his career.

 

I don't mind this signing as such. I would much rather we signed someone like this, young with potential, than another old has been. I've just given up on this season so hope it wasn't another panic buy just to get someone in before the deadline...unless we think we need to shore up to avoid relegation.

 

We don't know where he played while out on loan. Might have been stuck on a wing etc.
