There were lots of us last season who said we weren’t achieving anything if our midfield,on a regular basis still had Smallwood and Gilliead in it.

Smallwood has started 26 games and Gilliead 25.
2 goals between them and both scored by Gilliead

Smallwood as captain should be ashamed of the performances he’s continually put in.
Gilliead is a decent squad player due to his adaptability.
But that’s it
A squad player.

.Im struggling to see what Smallwood gives us.
His captaincy on the pitch seems nonexistent
His set pieces- enough said.
His breaking up of play normally results in just giving the ball back to the opposition.

I fully agree with the diagnosis from Alexander when we went what was it seven wins and a draw on the top we played with a real intensity pressing from the back line forward. Now we are a yard slower and whilst we were getting to the ball first we are now second to every ball. That level needs to be rediscovered
