I think a lot of clubs at this level do it these days to not broadcast how much they are spending and also the keep fans in the dark incase the moves dont work out. Posh chairman has said before on his podcast that it's always the last part of ever negotiation to broadcast the fee or not, he is always open to say it but the other club more often than not aren't open to it and I'm fairly certain he said that the EFL ask for both parties to be on the same page over disclosures.

I think the club have been pretty clear from the off - we want him back but if an offer comes in that meets our valuation, he can go. It would be daft doing a video then selling him a week later.

Seems to me we are given Young and suitors a chance, but I think that deadline has passed now. No real smoke and mirrors IMO.

I accept that we clearly don't conclusively know but the lack of communication from both player and the club certainly suggests that he's unlikely to play for us again or at least until the transfer window has passed.

We've got 3 more games before the deadline and I'd wager a bet that he doesn't feature in any.

I absolutely think he'll be sold but if not I reckon he'll amazingly be fit and ready to go for the Wimbledon game.

Absolutely. One thing is clear Dave, they have set a “restrictive” value on him , so it will take a decent bid or as you suggest he will miraculously be fit and raring to go along with the “ I’m buzzzzzzzin to get started vid”

What would the world be like without cynics?;)

The do we don’t we sell JY saga has most definitely run its course. I started out wanting Jake to come back and play for us. I believed his spat with MH resulting in a young player being farmed out to anyone who would have him was wrong, and I could have been better handled.

I thought the few games he played for us showed good promise. He had an eye for goal and had the confidence to shoot. Yes he looked raw, but I expected MH to give him guidance and advice. He was played in alternative positions which resulted in him not playing well then subsequently dropped.

He has had a barnstorming season for Swindon, and in my view that is down to Flynn as it appears this lad players well when the manager has confidence in him. I thought GA was just the manager to bring out the best of him. We are well short of goals, and it is ludicrous in my view to just let him go. Swindon have already had enormous benefit from his goals. If JY has decided not to honour his contract here, then provided we have done everything we can to keep him, we have to let him go. However, we are not a charity, and I expect our club to get the market value and not a penny less. According to the font of all knowledge in Carlisle that is £500k. That needs to happen this week or not at all.

JY upturn was mainly due to Kemp imo

We don't have a Kemp so I expect a flop if he plays for us

Well if you are correct then GA looks an idiot imo. If he is fit and training, he should be playing based on GAs words.

Young back training a week now, obviously match fit so tonight will be a teller.

He might be not be match fit but fit! He hasn’t played in over a month, my guess if he is fit he may well be on the bench.

I doubt very much that our deadline has passed as yet. I suspect we would still prefer to sell him if another club meets our asking price and that would also fit in well with what Young wants. If not, he can stay with us. If however he plays for us in the meantime and before the window closes, our option to sell is closed down immediately, well, until the summer. Why would we do that? I expect him to remain unplayed, twiddling his thumbs until the window closes.

I suppose the club could use the 2 club rule as a cut off point?

It’s wholly relevant because one suggested that Young “ could decide to honour his contract” .
I assume you realise he could possibly suffer large financial consequences if he refused to do so?

“The consequences of terminating a contract will depend on whether there is just cause, or possibly sporting just cause, and whether one is within the protected period of three / two years. Both the player and the club may be subject to financial sanctions (liability for the contracting party) and sporting sanctions (e.g., the player may be suspended for a period and the club may be excluded from one or more transfer windows). The consequences of the various scenarios related to dismissal are as follows:

    1) The player terminates the contract with sporting just cause:

    • No sporting sanctions against player or club

    • The player will be liable for damages

    2) The player terminates the contract with just cause:

    • No sporting sanctions against player

    • Possible sporting sanctions against club, if within protected period

    • The club will be liable for damages

    3) The player terminates the contract without just cause in the protected period:

    • Possible sporting sanctions against the player

    • The player will be liable for damages

    4) The player terminates the contract without just cause after the protected period:

    • No sporting sanctions against the player

    • The player will be liable for damages

Carlilse haven’t made a statement . I watched both Simpsons videos where he discussed Young and NO fee was mentioned.

I understand the 2 club rule but don't understand why using it would change things. Any club who is genuinely interested in paying for Young will already understand the implications. I'm of the view that a 'decent' transfer fee - decent in the eyes of Rupp and Sparks that is - is the preferred outcome. And that will remain our preference whilst ever the window is open.

I too saw the £500k mentioned, however I think it was by one of these pretend in the know accounts on Twitter.

well of course I do. If he refuses to play for us he will be sanctioned. Although I wouldn’t want him on the field if he did that. The mature response to not receiving a contract elsewhere would be to get his head down and fight for a team place then play out of his skin to prove he is worth more to other clubs. However, we ar3 jumping the gun here. He hasn’t done anything like that he is training and therefore in theory he is ready for selection.

Simpson lets the world know they want JY however they will not meet the asking price. Next we have an article in the newspaper repeating his claims and whoosh up comes the asking price. He can play silly buggers all he likes but it will not get him JY.

Its only 3 weeks since his last game - and he played 20 odd previous to that. He will be on the bench regardless IF he is picked.
