Simpson has been gobbing off again. As Alexander said he shouldn’t be talking about other clubs players. No axe to grind with Carlisle but Simpson is showing his desperation / lack of class. If Young does eventually go, then hopefully it is at the price we value him for and not to him.

I can't see it being Charlton as they've just signed Freddie Ladapo on loan from Ipswich and they have also been strongly linked with Uche Ikpeazu from Port Vale.

He's been saying that they could afford the quoted fee but decided it wasn't the right value.

Sky Sports are saying that Derby and Charlton are after Young. More likely to get that big money from one of those, although aren't Derby hemorrhaging money?

 

Is he fit enough to pass a fitness test

 

Charlton are definitely actively trying to sign players.

For Derby, maybe it's a risk/investment to try and get promoted?

If we can get clubs like Charlton and Derby interested then I think that puts his value up. Going to Derby would be a huge risk for him as it's a big step up from league 2 to League 1 title chasing and a lot of pressure for him to start scoring quickly especially if they spend big money on him. If he doesn't and if they get promoted I can see him being loaned out this time next year similar to Wright then all his hard work will be for nothing. However, if he goes there and does well then i think it's a very good move for us as a goalscorer in the top end league 1 and potentially championship then you are easily looking at 7 figures which could be a good payday for us with a sell on when they sell him.

 

I really wonder if Charltons interest is legitimate and if so, is it serious or just scouting what’s out there? Given Clarke-Harris looks relatively likely to go there, is it realistic Young could follow?

I also really wonder if our the valuation we have for him is too high? Of course I’d like us to get as much as we can, so we should be stubborn if we believe we can and should be - however this is first real season of decent success. I don’t agree with how Simpson’s expressed himself in the media, but get some of the points he made.
