I tried doing the same the other day and came short of realistic names who did well here and are out of favour but mainly not injured. Thought of Callum Guy incase he wasn't making the Carlisle team, but he's another along with Evans and Banks with cruciate ligament injuries. I'm thinking either Reach or Leigh, both seemingly LWB at their current squads, it's an area we need.

Although, are we assuming "I'd be amazed" is a good thing? Maybe amazed we are going back there to X player? As said the other day, Gibson is seemingly phasing out the Carlisle team over the last month or so, was linked away the other week. Or an Austin Samuels type who was just shockingly crap.

Yeh a fair point but read like it was been hyped as a coup, rather than a shock. You may be right though.

Gibson is obviously far better than he was during his time here but for me that's a 'decent ex player' and nothing more. I wouldnt even file him with Leigh or Crichlow. Cant see him returning to City though - him and his Dad have had a 4 year online spat with City fans.

I seem to remember Bradford End telling us last summer we were looking to bring someone back that would be pleasing - it was Wright and admitted it went quiet. So he was half right on that one given it was just 6 months late....

Wonder if it could be Ben Whitfield who was with us briefly. But I think it would take a lot to persuade Barrow to part with him

Well in that case, the only ones I can recall are Wells & Wyke. And IMO neither of them would drop to a bottom half L2 club. Both are fully capable of applying their trade at a much higher level. Another pointless rumour then

Well TBF Smallwood, Chapman, McDonald, Walker, Smith dropped all the way down to L2 but had suitors in the leagues above. Cook could have gone to L1 last summer. Maybe when some players come to the tail end of their careers they just want to play and feel a bit of love? Wyke and Wells would both get that.

Not for one minute saying they will sign but I wouldn't rule them out because of L2 football. More than likely £££.

 

He was in our youth academy for 10 years. Hardly "briefly"

 

This is depressing we are all out of rumours.

 

Why would he leave Barrow for us? Playing regular, their best player and they are flying.

Nobody has mentioned Delph or Cleverely. Maybe they got itchy retirement feet and need a 6 month fix for their home town clubs.

 

I wouldnt class him as an ex player though. He was in the youth set up by the look of it but never made it to the senior squad?

 

Doubt wells would but Wyke wants to. Club are aware but the wage drop is too much to get a move to happen at present.

 

He'd fit right in at Valley Parade, there's plenty of Blue Mondays and Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays.....
