I'm not privy to the details of the loan someone posted the other day it was part of the deal that Julian wanted Mark to have some kind of compensation for making the offer, I remember Mark saying at the time it was his kids inheritance he might have been serious buy Mark was a joker for sure.
Let's debate my comment and what I actually posted, there was IMO no financial institution would have touched Bradford City with regards lending the club money, or if they had it would have been at a far higher interest rate than 9%+ wouldn't you agree ?.
If we are to believe what was said after Lawn made the offer I believe it was Julian who commented that we could have once again been in serious financial trouble without it, I'm sure any money lenders would have soon sussed that out with our previous record.

The most damning thing and biggest laugh is every other players fitness is in the hands of the medical experts according to GA but when he is talking about Young 'it's when Jake thinks he is fit'.
A farcical situation, no wonder many fans are questioning the leadership at our club

There’s your answer right there Simon. Young is “ claiming” injury. That’s what I suspected all along. As someone said last week, quite pointed actually……JY is “self -certifying”. They didn’t realise how right they were.

Not sure what leadership of the club has to do with that scenario. Been there many times with staff. One can send them to any private specialist , can get them private treatment, however if the
“ ill” or injured party says “ It still hurts” we had to wait 26 weeks before we could cancel their contract, meanwhile they have 26 weeks on basic/ statutory sick pay.

Some transfers will work out and some won't. During the last 16 years, we've had numerous highly successful 'over the hill' players - we can't start moaning when one doesn't work out.

Or we can, but let's balance it with the clubs new commitment to buy half decent youngsters, hence why Young as well as Lewis could be making us a fair profit.

 

I'd say, they've easily got half "right".

Let's remember, that last season - we did end up with our highest D4 position in more than 40 years, which was a significant improvement on the previous seasons. We surely must have had more good signings than good.

This season? Well Richards looks very decent, Kelly and Wilson decent (not the fault of the latter that we now don't play with wingers). Pattinson, when fit, looks good. The two last minute panic buy winger loanees - due to Hughe's mismanagement - not very good.

Seriously, recruitment is light years better than it was from 2016 to 2021 - but that doesn't mean it's perfect or cannot be improved. But I trust Gent, if given proper direction by the manager.

 

I aint changing no subject when your making out Gent and co have done something amazing in selling on two players whose fees no doubt will help bridge the loss in all there crap signings.

 

I think that Dave, some of us get fed up of Rupp been painted as 100% the villain and reminiscing about the good old days under Lawn/Rhodes.

Let's be frank Rhodes was a disaster when he came back. We'd best to writing off the calendar year of 2020, because nothing happened (I realise Covid didn't help). We just wasted a whole year - which turned into 18 months.

Incidentally, you may remember that I used to protect both of them - particularly when they were on their third managerial disaster and getting abuse from everyone at that time.

Then of course Parky took over and the attitude towards them changed 180 degrees.

I think its that last sentence that's making people nervous out the "clubs new commitment". Nobody knows what's going to happen with this profit. Lets say Young goes for £300k for arguments sake, to add in with Lewis £200k. There is no comms (or faith) that the £500k profit will be invested back into the squad. If we are making plans to hire young free agents, sell them on for six-figures plus, is that money going back to budget or do we need to do this to keep running this self sufficient model? In other words, do we sell every season to stay above water? Rather than sell to re-invest and start the circle all over again.

Last summer we had Sparks and Gent say that this is now the plan, to bring in young assets that we can make some money on down the line. But then this summer, the assets we signed to sellable contracts are McDonald (35), Odour (24), Pattison (26), Smith (25), Taylor (33), Richards (22) & Wilson (23). Of that list, you're looking at Wilson & Richards as being the age to come in and have 18-24 months to be able to sell on, but Wilson isn't near making the bench and Richards has had fitness issues his entire spell so far. Maybe Odour, maybe Smith, but again consistency isn't showing so far to think we might make some money on those lads. Also, are other clubs wanting to spend money on people in their mid 20's who cant hold down a place in a mid table 4th tier side? Not likely.

If we were sticking to the layed out recruitment plan, you'd expect more than 1 signing under the age of 22? Seems again like we've had a plan and not really committed to it.

 

As long as the money remains within the club it doesn’t matter. Nobody objects when they see the likes of Peterborough use transfer income to keep the club running…..I certainly wouldn’t if I were DM and his overseas partners!

 

I think more of the money will go to transfers than not - but we'll have to see what the 22/23 finances reveal. The 21/22 were very good, when you consider how poor that season was.

There's no doubt in my mind that we are healthier financially than we used to be pre-Parky. However, that's not giving any guarantee of success - see Newcastle under Ashley.

What is does do (again see Newcastle under Ashley) is that it makes us more attractive to other buyers and also means we operate on sound finances. FFP is getting more 'attack dog' and so is probably the reason why Salford's spending appears to have dropped.

Agree about the confused policy. But that might have been due to the very confused Mark Hughes and also why they nearly fired him even earlier.
