I don’t think so. We bought him because somebody at our club thought he had potential. The reason he has such a long contract is because we also thought he was an investment for the future. Here we are, like an ageing prostitute that has seen a car on the horizon. Can’t wait to sell him, without a thought for the future. I am resigned to selling him, and I am guessing who ever gets him he will be sold cheap. We keep selling off our assets; I would like to know why, and I think the long suffering fans deserve an explanation, it was our money that was invested in this squad.

 

Fair points. But in relation to City, the argument relies on the Club having the same amount of cash available in June, AND Rupp's agreement to spend on the playing budget. Unless something changes, I suspect a lack lustre window combined with a limp into the end of the season will mean any money raised now will only partially fill a predicted hole in ST/ merchandise income, and we will see a lower player budget for next season.

 

Difficult to argue with that @Birky Bantam but a lot of teams didn't rate a certain Ivan Toney he was out on loan at several club playing against us for the likes of Barnsley, Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe, Wigan and always looked capable of scoring goals until Mr McAnthony (I'm sure with a little persuasion from Barry Fry) took a punt buying him for £650,000 and getting in the region of £5 million with a possible £10 million with add-ons back, not saying for one minute that will be the case with Jake Young.

We seem to have moved from giving one year deals as standard to giving three year deals so I would expect sales to balance that

 

Unfortunately when the club are keeping schtum about the situation fans have concerns and are split with regards Young staying or leaving we've not hear a word, so we can only assume Jakes on his way out of the club.
Wait until Ryan sits in font of a camera at his next update with regards the club telling us this club will not except mediocrity, its been said many times there are no guarantees in football but he's our player nothing has changed financially he's not demanding more money, he's the same player who left us at the beginning of the season the difference being he had a great scoring record during his first full half season of playing football we have nothing to lose by recalling him IMO.

Let's just get him fit and play him, he's out player and has showed he can score goals. Let's just get him fit and move on and end all this talk of is he worth this or that and do we as forum posters rate him. Let's face it where else would we find a player in January with 16 goals to his name that we could afford?

No you aren't Dave but it's still a valid point to make. Too many of us on here, and I include myself in that group, feel that we are better judges of talent and potential than experienced coaches. However it is a forum so people are entitled to an opinion.

So a manager that has worked with Jake day in day out for the past 5 months and would love to sign him permanently reckons he's worth around 500k, but some on here who haven't even seen him play for over a year reckon we should get rid for whatever we can get. That kind of thinking is why we never get to have nice things.
