If Exeter and Port Vale are the only clubs interested in him that shows really the level he is viewed at and why we he won't be valued anywhere near the values some have mentioned on here like Ollie Watkins. Really 300-500k is the best we can hope for unless we decide we don't sell him. I can't see Exeter and Port Vale entering a bidding war for him either.

 

To be honest, following Bradford city for 50+ years, has knocked that much out of me, i can not be arsed keeping an eye on other teams or their players. Struggle with ours.

Another hyperthetical, do the club even replace Young? Or, do we even spend whatever money we get in Jan?

This squad needs a lot to consistently challenge at the top of this division. Will lets say 500K be enough to bring in the quality we need to challenge this season? Likely not. However, could the club just keep the cash until the summer and have a few hundred grand to spend on a more "fresh slate" squad in June? Next season likely isn't going to have 3 or 4 of the teams with money like Stockport, Wrexham, County, MK & Mansfield who are all in or around promotion at the minute. The level of spend in L2 next season very likely wont be the same as this due to the teams who will be promoted, so could they think it makes sense to keep hold of it, and have a boost to build next season?

Still get rid of the 6 or 7 GA wants out, and the 3 or 4 in are loans or free transfers on 6 month 'prove it' type contracts to patch us through to our seemingly mid-table finish.

If it’s Exeter and Port Vale who’ve bid for Young it will be around the £80k mark. They won’t be able to afford much higher.

 

If indeed he is as good as some on here suggest or his 1/2 season stats attest to then Peterborough would be the obvious club to come calling with big money. They've speculated big on even national.league players with good scoring records, if they ain't interested I'd suggest he ain't worth what some think he is.

Good we keep him then. He then has the rest of the season to prove he is worth a big money move.
