Only we could land ourselves in a situation where we loan a young player out, they develop and do well, and it's somehow a catastrophe lol

True. The only issue was he was a flop at Barrow too, not even deemed good enough for them to put in another loan bid when he was a “free agent” so to speak.

Don’t know how you come to that conclusion. There was no comment from the club about Young when he moved purely speculation from the fans. And nothing from the club now other than a quote from Alexander saying the player declared himself injured

Putting Young on the bench wouldn't have made a bit of different mate, if he had been called on to play then it would have been different, but my understand is as long as he didn't play he could still be transferred to another club and play for them this season.

    Totally correct Bronco.
If Jake Young wants to move on so be it but let's not give him away while he's got a high stock level.
No club wants a player who by the sounds of it doesn't want to be a Bantam.
That said he's not come out and said that publicly why would he.
Only close friends and family will know the real truth.

But there is a problem here. In order to get the best price the club will have to play brinkmanship at the end of the window leading to accusations they left it to late to reinvest

Good luck to Young if he does indeed get a move to a higher division. It's a short career and you have to take the chances of a move when they arise. A better standard of football and a better calibre of player each week around you can only make you a better player yourself. If I was you Jake I'd be asking my agent to make it happen.

That's why Sparks can't do wrong from right here, he'll be criticised no matter what decision he makes.

We lost just £300K during 2021/22 - which were the latest financial reports (22/23 - will be out soon).

Also, if we're as desperate as you imply and it was all one big conspiracy at the weekend, why didn't we accept that bid?

So logically, your theory doesn't add up. It's Young who's "orchestrated" a move - you could tell from the tone of GA that he was annoyed with been left in the lurch by him.

So far I'm impressed with the management, for staying professional and not yielding to obvious pressure by players. I've not time for Man U or Leeds, but Fergies classic mental beating of Rooney back in the day when he wanted out and Daniel Farke's recent excellent handling of the Gnonto hissy fit - shows that if handled properly, there is a benefit as it shows that that clubs are not going to be ruled by their players.

We've no great need for Young to go, but we will if the offer is a good one. Puzzled why lots want to see this as yet more bad management from the club.

All speculation until we see an announcement from the club but I would be lying if I said I'm not disappointed we couldn't see him Claret & Amber unfortunately nothing comes as a suprise watching Bradford City.
I'd say we are a selling club exactly the same as possibly 86 or so other clubs Premiership, Championship, Leagues One and Two are, more so now than it has ever been in our time if watching our club because of the financial requirements of running a football club unless you have a sugar daddy owner.
We'll get over it as we did many moons ago when we sold the likes of Derek Stokes to Huddersfield, John (The King) McCole to Leeds, and even losing Paul (Pablo) Aimson to Huddersfield.

Same old same and nothing will change that's always the way down at our club.
By the way the club after fined £75,000 to pay for the Doncaster flare incident before any monies can be spent on incoming players.

I don't think you're any more disappointed than GA was. I genuinely think he wanted to play him. He's not a 'smoke and mirrors' type of person.

Me? I dunno. I think it we can get a good fee for him then off he goes. Most of that will be available for transfers and if it means we wait until the summer to get the right players, then so be it. Let's be honest the Top 3 has gone and I'm not certain that we should be gambling purchasing players in January for a play-off place, when the current squad should be good enough (although you do wonder if they are mentally sometimes)

Yep, Young wants away, City are happy for the cash.
    Irrelevant what GA wants.
No bad management here on City's behalf.
Just a clever way to let Young go without any excess finger pointing at the club.
Happens quite often throughout the football world.

The only saving grace I can see with regards Young going at the last minute is we'll never know if Young could score goals for Bradford City which can always be used because we've never been that situation, whatever we get for the kid has got to be a big bonus.
Do we have someone targeted once the deal is done, and no matter who it is if the poor sod comes to the club and fails to produce (Arron McLean) comes to mind once again Sparks & Gent will come in for critism.

We've got so many dodgy fans. Not only did they dent our chances of automatic promotion, when they decided to burst out momentum when we got back to to 2-2 at Crewe but now we're the thick end of £100K lighter.

I am just looking at the evidence. Barrow he hardly made it to the squad, but the manager said everything was fine, no sign of tantrums or hissy fits. So he accepted the managers assessment of his ability with good grace. Flynn enthused about both his ability and behaviour. It is only at our club he appears to have caused problems. If you wait our club making a professional comment on a returning player, you will likely expire first.

The comments GA is making are tinged with frustration at not being able to plan to incorporate JY into the squad. Probably desperate for an alternative striker.

I don’t necessarily blame the club at this point, but they don’t half make it hard for the fans to trust them. GA was enthusiastic about his return, so I do not think he is involved in any secrecy about why we brought him back.

I don’t know this lad at all, but yes he has a good level of self esteem, if a little immature, but you expect that sometimes with young footballers. That is why I am annoyed that it wasn’t handled well. He may well have made the difference last year, who knows we can only speculate. It doesn’t appear we are going to see him this year either, as it looks like the club are going to cash in.

Exactly. That's the problem with January transfers. They can be a big hit like Charlie Wyke or a big miss like McLean (although I was impressed with his goal at Tranmere on the last match of the season. LOL!!)
