Not convinced Pointon can play there. He is much better playing wide. If we get rid of a few we can can get another in because Pattison injury looks like a big problem

At the moment , yes better wide, of which there is no position. He’s nowhere near a 10 yet and that’s why he’s not getting game time on both counts.

 

We don't play with a 10 though Kev so I'm not sure why we're suggesting that certain players don't fit into a system we don't use? We play with Smallwood sitting and two box to box central midfielders. (8's).

I don't particularly think any of Pointon, Chapman, Odesebe or Odour really fit that role but Pointon out of them all looks like a more natural type of fit with his energy and workrate. He's still far too raw though so if Pattison is out for any length of time we definitely need a like for like replacement to help cover Walker.

 

No way is the club gonna have 3 specialists in that role on good money.

 

Can’t disagree, I’m using probably the 8/10 anology of Gilly and Walker as the two box to box..

10 being Walker.

Your anology is better. However BP is neither . However I think he could be eventually over time. His time isn’t right , maybe a loan to another club that plays the same set up so he could learn the role, rather than sitting behind two/ three established players already in the squad doesn’t do him any favours.

The lad was a boxer to a decent amateur level. He's got enough physical strength. Not always a good thing being bigger/more muscular.

 

This all "they don't suit the system" thing is absolute codswallop that some are peddling.

Literally, Walker never played in the position he's in until GA turned up. Jamie has talked about learning to play in the role and how he fancied giving it a try when in Scotland. Do some people think he's been playing in that role all season? It's nonsense. They're all learning what GA wants from them. It's almost like some turn up and watch the match and ignore the system or assume its something when it isn't. I can't understand it.

 

Indeed.He had to make a decision whether to turn pro boxer,or pro footballer.Lets hope he made the right one.

I watched a vid compilation of all his Scottish goals on Y/T……They are mostly from the position he plays now. There are a lot of them too!

Odour will get better the more he plays and could turn in to a good asset to the club

 

I think Odour will start after scoring last time but I wonder when Adam Wilson is gonna get another chance.

 

Against Barrow he was brought on as an attacking LWB and against Notts County he was given some time as a striker so they are probably his only options for positions in this team but hard to see when he'll get a chance in either of them as it will take a lot of injuries. At best he's 4th choice LWB behind Richards, Ridehalgh & Gilliead then as a striker he is very low and will get even lower once Young is back.

 

Aye, opportunities looking a bit thin on the ground! Still, we know 5-3-2 is the best formation and if that means winger casualties, so be it i guess. Team output overall most important

 

Hopefully Wilson or Chapman on the bench instead of Osadebe.

I wonder how Odour would fare at left wing back. I know he's played the role before and is keen to play further forward, but he's got all the attributes you'd want in a wing back, certainly going forward. Having him in that role, with Walker back in the 10 role would certainly give us plenty of attacking threat.

 

Maybe not but I feel he's being pigeon holed as lightweight a bit because of his stature yet we brought on 6ft+ Oliver last night and he got thrown around like a rag doll.
