If Young comes back then possibly a defender will arrive and I think that will be it unless things change between now and January. Most of the loans will be allowed back

 

All depends if it’s a season loan or if the clubs want them back.

 

I'm pretty sure we can also terminate the loan in January.

 

If they arent in our plans then I can see them being recalled and reality is, bar possibly Tomkinson the rest wont be.

I get the impression GA is fairly happy with the squad he's inherited. It's more a case of trimming it down to focus on quality rather than quantity. Something Sparks said we'd be doing in the last transfer window!
If Young does stay beyond the January transfer window, the key area to strengthen, for me, is the goalkeeper. I wouldn't mind getting the Polish lad from Liverpool on loan.

 

As I've said many time, it would be pure madness to let him stay at Swindon. If we sell him, he has value to more clubs than just Swindon and never in a million years are they going to be able to offer the highest bid. There are only two scenarios with Young - he comes back and is included back in our squad, or we sell him.

110% he is not staying at Swindon on loan.

 

I suspect any players let go by GA are more that they don't fit his pattern of play rather than them being bad players. I'd like to think anyone possibly being brought in are done so to fit this new formation rather than just being players who are available.

 

I get the impression that GA's ego is normal compared to billy big boots Hughes and he will make decisions based on football, not on his inflated view of his own omnipotence.

 

He certainly has more streetwise about him in this Divi than Hughes did.

He certainly said he wants to trim the squad in the recent interview. If it were me , it isn’t I know, I’d certainly look as sending most , if not all the loan players back to parent clubs as a start point and look at recruiting a couple of top quality replacements . Young will be a “freebie” either way. A player or a saleable asset. If a decent offer comes in the temptation to sell will be there from Youngs own perspective. Depends on his attitude on returning , which he will, no question.

 

Quality over quantity finally it seems. Send back the none playing loans, move on some fringe layers and make some of the loans who are out permanent. Should create funds for 2 or 3 quality players plus the return of Young

 

Tomkinson who has yet to start in the league? We’ve got Platt, Stubbs, Taylor and Kelly who can all play in his position. I see him going back in January unless he gets a run out tomorrow and stakes his claim.

 

Like I said, possibly. He has 5 or 6 games to prove his worth.
