You're right there, he was super and played out of position, normally wide right apparently. Most of their youth recruitment team were there last night, including our own Andy O'Brien who works there coaching. All purring over Doak, "cheap for what we paid" said the guy who recruited him.

According to the stats, no. They had zero shots on target to our 16, there was only one team in it despite a 15 minute period before half time in which they got on a couple of counters. That number 50 looked decent, but he’d have to be a miracle worker to get a hatrick without a shot on target!

Lets cut to the chase, on the night bar the lads they had upfront they were absolute garbage but we used that to our advantage. Could easily have been an 8 or 9 nil scoreline on the night. I don't take too much away from the game as its little more than a training exercise but i have to admit i'm liking the set up that GA has gone with. Its getting the best from players like Smallwood, Walker and Smith and the team as a whole seem to know what their roles are. Completely different to under Hughes.

 

It doesn’t Kevin, totally separate disciplinary for this competition. Goalkeeper Doyle and Harry Chapman were both suspended for last night’s game for picking up 2 yellow cards in the group stage but both could have played in a league match.

Despite letting in 4 goals, I think their keeper had a blinder too, credit where it is due. Some of the saves that kid pulled off were very impressive

Yes, thought the back 3 coped with it well.
Stubbs looks more comfortable down the middle, where his lack of pace is less exposed.
It would seem to be Taylor or Stubbs in the middle as they can get caught out for pace in the wider areas.

Smallwood looks like he's had the world removed from his shoulders, spraying 20 yard passes from one side of the pitch to the other, although as you say they were only kids it gave Alexander chance to shuffle the pack giving game time to those who needed it.
