Sadly he looks to have backed his own footballing ability, still time but if he hasn't figured so far under Alexander I cant see him becoming an automatic in the 18 man squad.

 

Many wise heads suggested he would struggle to figure if he didn’t go for or get the managers job. Looks like they were right all along. His saving grace would be if Smallwood gets a ban/ injured?

 

Yeah its tough going on McDonald but his legs looked gone at Grimsby when he was repeatedly beaten in his battles and made a number of slow challenges. He was also poor at MK Dons - like the rest - when we got battered.

his signing was another perplexing one. Smallwood was criticised for lack of mobility yet we brought in a slower man, and loaned out East, who can get about the pitch.

its crazy to think McDonald could have quite easily have been handed the managers job to the end of the season (or longer) yet here we are, weeks from the January window, and he may have to do an Adam Clayton and drop another level to pursue his playing career, and may well leave the club.

I know health issues have influenced his decision, and its his call, but I can’t see him starting for us.

 

Any idea what a silly offer entails? Ive seen 1 or 2 on here suggesting it will be £100k to £250k tops!!!

I think if Young had scored 16 goals in 19 appearances for us this season these sums banded about on here wouldn't exist - 7 figures would be demanded.

Up to joining Swindon , Young had 11 goals in 75 league appearances . 9 for the veggies, 2 for us and 0 in 17 for the sub mariners of Barrow. Hardly prolific. Maybe just a hot spell, but hopefully learning and improving his game, making him even more of an asset .
I can not see anyone in the championship bidding for him, possibly lower end Rotherham type. Town or the Wendie's,
Not many in league 1 have much money Derby, Bolton, Peterborough!
In the shite pool we are in Wrexham, probably the only ones who would splash £250,000+ on a player.
