If anyone thinks Young would replace McGoldrick like for like is on la la land. I don’t remember him ever heading a ball for starters. I exaggerate I know but they are miles apart in terms of a footballer.

There is probably some truth in that.

Who cares? Played on the wing, was a year younger.

What the hell does it matter? Cook scored 1 in 21 for Mansfield.

    Move on!!!

£250k if you are Swindon? Surely they would pay more.

But what if you are a top end L1 club or Championship that club decides to take a punt as a longer term investment with a possible loan back?

£250k-£500k a drop in the ocean. You would pay to just get the deal done if you fancy him.

Only way to prove is see what happens in January. If i was Young i'd want to stay at Swindon at least till the end of the season as he fits a system and players getting the best out of him, though i'm pretty sure that won't happen as we don't benefit from leaving there unless a deal can be reached. If as i expect a deal can't be reached then he comes back to us, but that means starting again for us from scratch and having a different system and players around him.
It might well be that someone else takes a punt on him as you allude to, after all he's effectively in the shop window. Everyone wants a goalscorer and its an almost unique situation that the divisions leading scorer doesn't play for his parent club. Bradford can't lose either way but depending on the choice made i believe Young could.

No RT, we don’t need to change anything .

He would play along side Cook or Oliver instead of Smith . He doesn’t fit anywhere else in the side it’s that simple .

Problem i can see him having Kev is not wanting to come back playing second fiddle when you've scored 16 goals.

So we sell, Prima Donna’s we don’t want. He may have scored elsewhere for just this half season, never much anywhere in his entire career so far, so he has to prove he can play here now that his barrier (MH ) has gone.
If he wants the challenge and he’s up for it ..brilliant,if not I’ll drive him to his next club.

Let's hope we you're right, even though by his standards Andy Cook is having a poor season he's still the clubs top scorer and I'd expect him to finish the season as our number one striker, hopefully getting into the high teens.

I would suggest it also suits Andy Cook, unfortunately by Andy's standards he hasn't put enough of those guilt edge chances away, he could and should possibly be into double figures already this season.

But but but what happens then if we ship Smith out on loan and he scores every week whilst we have Young firing blanks? There would be an outrage. Ha ha

We need a healthy amount of numbers up top and at the moment we are playing 2 and only have 3 to choose from (sorry Derbyshire).

Bizarre to question where Young fits in. He fits in when there are opportunities and he earns his shirt.

There will be plenty of rotation and injuries between now and May and Cook, Oliver, Smith and Young will all get a chance.

A minth ago we were running Cook into the ground and now some folk suggesting we dont need Young!

It’s not a bizarre question SP . We all know the answer why he got dropped by Hughes as he was lazy out wide . Where would you play him. Remember we now play 532 since half time at county . GA won’t change back again. Where would he play?

That’s simple. He’d play alongside Cook, instead of Smith.

How would he be playing second fiddle Al? If we recall him it would surely be to slot him straight into the front two, alongside Cook. I cannot see us recalling him (unless to sell) if Alexander doesn’t think he’s better than Smith.

I don't believe for a minute that he was dropped due to being lazy. He didn't look any different to any other player on the pitch in terms of work ethic when he played.

I think this is just a narrative peddled out after the clash with Hughes and it suited both the club and some fans at the time to accept it as truth.

I'm not sure him and Cook would be the ideal pairing. He plays with a different type of striker at Swindon, maybe even Smith and Young with the way Cooks been playing this season.

GA will have been eyeing Young enviously as our player is currently scoring goals at a rate of one every 89minutes. If we get him back in January GA will know exactly what his strengths are and exactly how to use him.
