I didn’t rate him at all last season, but like Smith, early this season, he was out of position out on the left.

The reason he was shipped out has left the building, sure he maybe enjoying it there but we’re only 4 points behind and a good run until new year could see us above them. Plus we’re a bigger club and local to where he is from. Just because he does Jordan Gibson esk OTT celebrations doesn’t mean he wants to stay there forever. He’d probably do the same here but fan’s always lap that sort of celebration up so that’s probably why Swindon lot think he loves it there. It’s a stepping stone for him and rightly so at that age.

£250k seems the go to figure - ridiculous. We got that for an ageing Doyle about 5 years ago!!! We paid that for Charlie Wykes release clause, 7 years ago!

If the club even contemplates letting the leagues top scorer, who is only 22 with bags of potential, go for that fee then it is no wonder this club is where it is. And when fans are agreeing its the right call then that just shows the mentality of the entire culture around this club.

Like with any commodity or asset its what value someone puts on that item. Personally i wouldn't pay more than £250,000, maybe £300,000 at a push based on one decent half season. I wouldn't knock a club for offering more, they are the ones taking the risk.

I mean, let's wait and see, but I'm really not saying a player of tremendous monetary value.

If we wanted to maximise his value, he'd be best off staying at Swindon and we hope he scores more than 30.

That isn't the answer anyone will want to hear, but in terms of getting the best price for him, it's a no brainer. Wait until the Summer and hope he keeps scoring.

Expecting far more than £250,000 based on 4 months of quality football while out on a short term loan is a Football Manager fantasy.

Does anyone expect that MK Dons fans are sat there thinking they'll get millions for Kemp? Of course not. £100,000 for Kemp seems generous.

I suppose it shows that clubs aren't going to pay big for half a season, as others have mentioned.

Difference is, that Young is a goalscorer and so is a more highly valued asset.

I don't think £400K is a pipedream. An example is, Derby have never properly replaced McGoldrick and could easily panic buy in January. However, I don't think Young is a Paul Warne type player - but then again that hasn't stopped the no nonsense Flynn getting the best out of him.

I think the £250K plus add ons is more likely, though.

 

I think when he is fit Alexander’s style of play will suit Oliver to a tee
