No deflection required!!! Rare maybe, but they happen. You must have forgotten Luke Armstrong to Wrexham for £500k was on the cards.

Why stop at strikers anyway - clubs in the higher divisions have paid decent sums for midfielders and defenders?

Third choice? GA hasn't had the option to even play him yet so how can the divisions top scorer be deemed third choice?

In front of the Kop at Home to Brighton in a 2 0 win in my head.

It could just as easily been away to Morecambe in a 5 0 loss though with my memory!

Charlie Wyke was worth at least 500k too. Only reason we got him for £250k was because we got lucky and he had a release clause. Bargain.

Smith has really stepped up in recent weeks and would feel hard done by if dropped but between him, Cook, Oliver and Young, that’s a pretty decent set of options in L2.

In fact, throughout the team we have decent options. The only area I think we need other than recalling Young is a CB. What about recalling Osudina if budgets too tight?

Richards with Ridehalgh as back up is fine. Halliday is player of season. Smallwood, Gilly, Walker pick themselves. Could recall East if Osadebe isn’t deemed reliable backup and if McDonald is deemed to be finished (if not he’s our CDM backup). Pointon is attacking midfielder back up.

I’m actually feeling a lot more optimistic as we’ve also got Chapman and Wilson not mentioned above.

a new pacy CB and Young recalled, though, with a few fringe players moved on, and I’d be happy with the window.

The quality in the squad was never really a problem in the squad for me but the manager and his set up was.

There is no "will he be" if we're selling him. He won't be here.

The facts are clear: we've sent him out on loan because he's behind Cook and Smith in the pecking order. No ifs, buts, or maybes, that's the case.

Alternatively, we bring him back and don't sell him. In which case the fee is redundant.

But as it stands: £250,000 for our third choice striker is a lot of money.

Yeah, I guess I didn't make myself quite clear on that one, but see above.

If we're selling him, he has been third choice.

If we're not selling him, fair cop, he might not be third choice.

What I meant was, quarter of a mill for a guy who couldn't get in our team? Sounds fair, if not excellent.

That was then. This is now. People don’t stay the same they develop and grow. I am sure you are not the same as you was. No idea how old you are but I am assuming you are not 22 or even 21 when this lad was sent out.

With Oyegoke being injured, we're probably a right wing back short.

Well yeah, but again, that's not quite what I meant.

If we sell Jake Young, we can't pretend to a bidder that we're selling him as a first choice striker.

There's just no way that will fly.

Whether he could come back and be a first choice striker is kinda moot if he's sold within a four week period.

We have 2 choices: keep him as a first choice player or sell him as a third choice player. The fee will reflect that reality.

We have another choice which is actually reality. We decide to sell him as a first choice striker for Swindon whilst out on loan. I am in favour of just keeping him and let GA judge his quality as a first choice striker. If he can’t cut it here we sell him in the summer but if he performs like he has for Swindon then we will gain promotion and he might want to stay who knows.

plus we are not giving Swindon a leg up like we have been doing. Imagine where they would be without him?

I'd sell him for that sort of money but he was only behind Cook, Oliver and Smith because Hughes wanted him out, we'll never know how well he would suit Alexander's set up unless he's recalled.

And even then, that's such a tight deadline to decide whether to sell or stick with him.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens and how GA deals with it.

I can't help but think we won't recall him unless we're selling him, though, but who knows.

Can we afford to leave him at Swindon , scoring goals for fun, they could be playoff rivals come the season's end.
I have a sneaky feeling with a little tweaking Mr Alexander could just get us in there.

We shouldn't be loaning players to Swindon Town full stop!!

All clubs loan out player's. I personally do not like loaning them to potential rivals and certainly not because the manager is not man enough to accept a little critisism , as apparently happened here.
Turns out Jake was not far off the Mark, excuse the pun.

Be interesting to know what Swindon value him at in terms of a bid and what they would value him at if he was their player being touted by other clubs. Looking from that perspective I've changed my mind a bit with what others were suggesting. I'd have to weigh that up with my own opinion of him, but I guess they'd be looking closer to half a million than a quarter. Maybe around the £350,000 to £400,000

Apparently Swindon have even less money than we do, so i can not see them putting in a bid.
