Agree with these posts, and as said before will be a really positive sign of intent by the club. Any possible negatives are largely mitigated; and let's be really honest, can't imagine anyone on here complaining if we were in serious contention for a striker in Jan with his current form (if he was n't already our player!!!!).

We could offer them 18/30 month deals.
We have 19 OOC in the summer so plenty of room for manoeuvre.

 

It would be a fresh start for him under GA, a manager who has stated he doesn't play with a lone striker. Who would we prefer alongside Andy Cook, Smith, Oliver or Young?
Yes Young's agent could be canvassing clubs to get him a move from City (or Swindon) but with 18 or 30 months left on his contract that move would have to benefit City financially.

Didn't we pay £600,000+ for John McGinley back in the 1990s? Yes he flopped here (just like Tony Adcock) but wouldn't it be nice to have that spending power available now?

4 years ago isnt a long time ago. Not alot has changed, we are still shite.

 

I wouldnt be spending that in January. Summer yes but much harder to find those in January.

Id prefer to cut our cloth to release somw of the budget, if we can shift a few on we can probably find 10k a week that way.

Id prefer to keep the better players.

 

New manager who needs to convince him and show him a bit of love. If Young is unsure, call him back anyway and tell him he can go in the summer.

That’s a decent deflection , I’ll give you that . The true point is they are very very rare nowadays.

 

We were in the Championship then. He flopped, but more to the point Bolton stiffed us as he had a career limiting injury that we ovelooked/ didn't pick up on. He only pllayed 7 more FL games after leaving us

 

Will he be third choice though? If he looks good in training who knows?
