Yeah maybe so. The reality is, none of us know the specifics. But clearly, the key principle here is that we all want to see as many quality players playing for us as possible, and seeing a contracted player pulling up trees for opponents is pretty galling.

Id then argue a case for Odusina and Young returning to fill some voids while adding 2 or 3 additions.

Started all 20 NLN games this season and played 90 minutes every time. Every game at CB, managed to get 4 yellows and 6 clean sheets.

Seemed to have only ever played at RB in the City first time. Blyth have only ever used him in central defence, seem to remember he was a CB too in our academy.

He definitely looked like a CB playing RB for us.

 

Oduor was one of our better players earlier in the season and with 3 years on his contract we should be looking to develop him further. And if (and it's a great big 6'2 if!) Oliver stays fit we're not going to get better than him in January. Osadebe... well, less said the better there I reckon

 

Anyone else getting a bit concerned about a new deal not being lined up for Pointon? Gent and Sparks both talked up about having assets in young players to sell on. Pointon has had a little break out in the first team but still only has 7 months left on his deal and we haven't signed him up. When the likes of FCD, Staunton and Devine in recent years got a 3 year deal each for middling to good performances, think Pointons cameo in the first team so far has been far more impressive than any of the youth mentioned above.

Also cant see him starting in this GA 352 setup unless he can feature as the Smith backup, more of a support striker to the target man in Cook/Oliver. The lack of a 10 or attacking winger role has really put question marks on guys like Chapman, Osadebe, Wilson, Pointon & the loanee wingers we had. Obviously will keep one maybe two on the bench if you need to change to chase a game, but there's a good 3 or 4 who wont make matchday squads.
