Just because players perform at one club, it doesn’t automatically mean they will at another .

Remember Young didn’t do anything at Barrow either which tells me it’s not necessarily the manager.

I can’t explain it , so no certainty he will come back and do anything of note. Personally I’d have money in the bank.

 

Hi guys, like old times talking about returning loan strikers! From what I know our end there is a small window within which you can recall Young so not necessarily smack on the 1st Jan. Can’t see who we could replace him with and my only hope is you flog him to a Championship club and they loan him straight back to us. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season - think you deserve it.

Wrexham bid £500k for Luke Armstrong at Harrogate and he doesn’t score goals. Young could have 15-20 by Jan……

He’s young, still got 18 months on his deal.

£250k plus?

 

I fully expect he will be recalled but it is far from certain he scores if he comes back. The first decision we have to make if he comes back is whether we play him or not, if we go play him that takes out the option to sell him unless we sell him to Swindon or to a team who want to loan him back to us/Swindon. A lot will be decided by Young, if he wants to come back and force through a move back to Swindon all he needs to do is sulk and not be interested like when Doyle came back.

Also if he comes back and Smith continues his good form he's far from a certainty to walk back into the side so he might have to bide his time.

Either way the next 6 months for him are massive for his career, if he comes back and scores that will add to his value as he's shown he can score in 2 different teams with different styles of play. If he doesn't score then questions will be asked about why he's struggled.

 

He’s struck up a really good friendship and partnership with Kemp. He’s very much a confidence player - you could see him struggling when he didn’t score for 6 or 7 games. He’s a scorer of great goals and not so much a great goal scorer if you know what I mean. Yesterday’s scrappy winner notwithstanding! With his age and goals/assists ratio with us I’d expect anywhere around £500,000 tbh.

 

Looking at it from another angle, imagine if we did not own him, and we caught a whiff we were in for him in the January window!!

However any return would only be successful if the rest of the forwards can play to his strengths, and GA wants to, otherwise sell to L1 or Championship on 1st Jan, and use the cash on another couple of players.

 

He benefits from the way we play - whether that is pivotal to his goals return I have no idea. I suppose his previous form would be a concern for whoever he next plays for and that may dampen his value.

 

Thats a good point id completely overlooked. Can’t play for a third club this season. Swindon unlikely to cough up so he stays here or gets loaned back there?

 

Surely we will sell for a decent fee in January. The risk is we play him and it doesn't work then we're stuffed until the summer, when Young will only have one year left on his deal.

 

If we can get half of that it would be fantastic business for us, we’d bite someone’s hand off. Out of interest could you afford £200k+? It seems you’ve had some rumours around money recently, don’t know how true that is but it would benefit both parties imo to strike that sort of deal. Personally if interest higher up comes in then I hope we sell to someone not in our division.

Either way this fantastic form is a win win for all parties imo.

 

He goes back there at twice the fee they currently pay , which is probably just covering his wages

I don't give a stuff if he his happy at Swindon. We own him, we paid a fee for him and he's only out on loan due to hughes' totally negligent handling of him.

Recall him and either let him work on making his name here or sell him to a league one club.

Bradford City is (allegedly) a business not a charity and what makes Jake Young happy is bottom of the list.

 

Got to agree but much will depend if GA rated him or wants to buy his own forwards in. At this minute you are deeply concerned about Cook if you are GA.

 

As usual, the ownership seems all over the place with rumours of a lack of funds from Morfuni. Would seem a no brainer of an investment for us if we could get him for £250,000 but whether he’d stump up that I’m not sure. Remember we’ve also got Kemp on a loan from Franchise so there’s him to sort out too if we can. If they both go I can’t envisage their replacements being as good so that’s us stuffed.

 

Don’t forget, he’s only played for us this season, so he could play for anyone after his loan. He wasn’t even going to be first choice striker when we signed him. We had Danny Johnson about to sign until he changed his mind at the last minute. Bit like Jonny Williams!

Bring him back and have him, Smith, Cook and Oliver fight it out for the two places - need at least 4 decent strikers to be troubling the top end of the table - needed a proper strike force for years and years so can't pass the opportunity up when we already have them all on the books
