Andy Kiwomya was saying exactly the same after todays game, but that does not excuse his misses today, it just shows how poor our recruitment has been with regards vital positions within our squad, Hughes knew Cook was our only forward scoring regularly within his system yet ignore bringing in any back up, unless he thought Smith was capable of taking over.

 

Why would it cost us to recall our own player. Can't get my head around that one.

Yes the Young situation has been quoted before, so do we bite the bullet and pay Swindon to bring our own player back (some loan deal that was) but I suppose Hughes was adamant Young got out of our squad for whatever reasons.

 

Where is he going to play? He's only worth it if we also bring in Kemp. If we don't supply him, he won't score.

 

He was decent last season but that's gone, it's what he does now. Same with the likes of Cook and Lewis. I'm under no illusion and after listening to the interview after the game with Graham Alexander, I don't think he is to the size of the rebuilding job he has at Bradford. He admitted he's learning about what the limitations of the squad is and getting up to speed with what Hughes and Gent have left him to work with.
We are in exactly the same position we were when Parky took over a sinking ship ten years ago, it's not the fault of any single player, it's down to complete utter mismanagement from the people above Alexander.
Put it this way, if say Notts County lost their impressive manager to another team, they would know what sort of manager to get to fit into the clubs ethos.
Yet for us we have no such ethos as GA is finding out. If he manages to get this lot to mid table finish bully the end of the season he will have done well, a damning indictment to the utter shitshow this club has become.

 

Ah didn't know that. So basically, we would be just giving back what we received in the first place then.

 

Just my opinion but maybe Stubbs having Taylor along side him is trying too hard to cover both positions, in this league your lucky to have mobile CD but if they have little pace then they have to rely on their positional play and today very few at the back seemed to know where they should be, the first being a perfect example the defending for that goal by Richards was very poor.

 

I honestly don't know, if we bring him back its more out of desperation as you say with Kemp along side him could be a different ball game.

 

Completely agree but with the caveat that most of these players have had three different managers and there different ways of playing in just 18 games so far. Players play far better under systems designed to get the best out of them, no player will show form under that sort of regime barring the impressive Halliday. Ironic as the useless Hughes actually dropped him after the first game.

What we say today was a strong team who pretty much knew each other and their pattern of play and who have made a couple of very good additions in the summer playing a team that appeared confused in their way to play and lacking in confidence.

I think Alexander has to work out quickly who his strongest 14/15 are and stick with them and a formation and a pattern of play that will work with those players.

Yes, he's going to annoy another 10 players who won't get a sniff but it's not his fault he's got too many players and players with skills/attributes that aren't strong enough to get in the first team. He has to hope that enough of those 10 or so that aren't playing leave in January so he can bring in 2 or 3 that can complement the 14/15 he thinks are good enough.

It's a depressing situation but we have to hope Alexander gets a plan together quickly.
