He can't help himself. His blind hatred of MacAnthony is amusing, the guy has taken a nothing club to an outfit that regularly flirts with the championship. Well I'll have some of that bullshit of there is some going free.

The irony of accusing MacAnthony of blarney with little substance while fawning all over Mr sound bite is why I love this place.
Most definitely said with a straight face as well.

There is a massive difference DM owned the posh and now part owns it. And for whatever the outside think of him lots of his own fans don’t agree.
Sparks is responsible for generating any cash used by the club and has done a great job of it. He can’t call on lots of extra funds to speculate.
I have said before when Ryan Sparks leaves this club it will be+promotion for him

There we have the reason why we are a L2 club and will be next season
People with and those supposedly with influence refusing to acknowledge we have a problem
Let alone recognising what the problem is

Sadly, it is Bradford that is historically the worst performing City in the english football league,
Lack of footballing infrastructure and owners that could propel us forwards(Tordoff/Stafford/Lawn/Rhodes tried in their limited ways)

My first game was in 1977, a promotion gainer under Bobby Kennedy
The following season City were relegated,
    C'est La Vie
The young 'uns who were seduced by ParkyBall or McCall's nearly season how long till the enthusiasm wanes?

Looking at this years L2/Division Four teams and there are only Salford,MK Dons and Wrexham Hollywood to keep us company but,
Salford have mostly given their support historically to Manchester's current second team
MK Dons have no footballing heritage after nicking another team
and hard to believe Wrexham was made City status last year so their years of failure cannot be made as a historical City
The rest are Towns,Boroughs and former non-league teams that have escaped and very much enjoy their day out to VP.

Still maybe we get lucky someday ;)
And at least we are "sustainable"

And ridiculing the chairman of a club who finished 6th in Lge one last year and are currently 4th in Lge one.

The phrase “people in glass houses” has never been more apt.

Don't tell anyone but it's pointless generating cash and neglecting the real reason we are here
We are a football club with fans who want to see progress on the pitch above all else which would make generating more and more cash easier
    And that ain't happening

Are you referring to me , it was my original comment , he’s not as well respected by his supporters as we imagine..That’s fact , despite the clubs successes.

In what possible way can our club look at DMc and laugh/call out his BS (which he does peddle, to be fair)?

Peterborough have been infinitely more successfull than us in terms of League standing in the last decade and a half.

And if we needed a reminder, a player we wanted in the summer turned us down for them. But hey ho, he's full of blarney. Unlike Senor Soundbite at our club.

He isn’t there just to generate money though. What bit of that don’t you bloody understand? Seriously, which bit?

To help your brain I will use one of the biggest clubs in world if not the biggest - Manchester Utd.
Radcliffe is buying a 25 % stake in the club. The first thing he has done is sack the CEO a because the club on the pitch is shite and got a new CEO in and having control of football matters.

If you can’t understand that in a football club it’s football’ matters that are the most important thing then I can’t help you,

It’s like your brain wouldn’t understand that family is more important than money.

I had a quick look around to understand why the fans of Posh have fallen out with DM.The local press only says so much so one has to dig deeper

How much are Peterborough United in debt a simple Google

The receivers are now responsible for the London Road ground and the other secured assets, with the aim of recovering OKR Financial's outstanding debt of £6.6m, which remains outstanding despite ongoing efforts to recover the overdue loan payments since October 2022.29 Mar 2023

    https://www.begbies-traynorgroup.com › ...
LPA Receivers Appointed by Peterborough United Co-Owners

From this reading they have total debts of about £25m

Peterborough total liabilities are £25m. Includes £6m interest free loans from owner companies, £6m on disputed loan charging 18% interest, £600k on unsecured loan at 12.5% and £2.5m Posh Bond at 9%. "Club has a disputed loan from Old Kent Road Financial which is best described as messy.1 Jul 2023

They have some positives according to one article, in relation to many other clubs of a similar level . 50% of income is spent on player wages whereas other clubs are 100%.

The new ground “plan” seems to be moving on at a snail pace , if it ever comes off that is?

I can’t make out who owns their existing ground but it’s a third party for sure.

Hope this explains why DM isn’t in favour at the moment despite their acknowledged status.

They could sell the CB, Edwards for £20m on January 1st. I think he's the England U20 Captain, They have a lot of young players coming through, worth a lot of money.

They wont get £20m for Edwards, wont get anywhere near that. DMac said on deadline day on Sky they wanted £1m for Clarke-Harris before the Bristol deal fell through and £8m for Edwards after turning down £4m from West Ham and Rangers. Not a chance will the price tag have gone up by 2.5 times after of 4 months of L1 football. Edwards only has a year and half left on his deal too so Posh will try flog him in January for sure to get as much as they can. He looks a tidy player, remember in the L1 play offs he got bullied by the Sheff Weds target man, think Edwards is probably 6ft at a push, not the most physical but very good on the ball.

I think the transfers are what pushed forward the fans turn on MacAnthonys transfer policy when they got promoted. They wanted to steer away from the signing of youth and to go for more established talent to try stay up in the Champ and he shot it down, stuck to his guns and they didn't have the talent to stay at that level. Everytime backlash seems to kick on, he starts to say things like "if anyone wants me gone i'll go" but finding a buyer is another story for the amount he'll want for his shares. Especially with the debt and the stadium nonsense ongoing, it's an empty threat that will never happen unless he gets a daft offer or his partners want full control.

    Really?

He has generated enough cash to get us a squad that is currently 18th in league 22. 86th out of 92 in the whole football league.

Remember when he claimed to have saved us from relegation, well we are one place better off from their now. 3 years and 5 managers later.

He is signing off on 3 year contracts for players who are clearly not good enough. Someone obviously told him odour and Smith were assets, they will leave us for non league before the end of their contracts, likely at cost to us.

The redevelopment or improvement of the ground, even that is backwards.

I sit on a seat covered in bird mess yet staring back at me are 700 new seats where no fecker sits, all part of a vanity project.

There is a 17ft chicken in the directors car park yet I haven't got toilet paper or hot water to wash my hands after a shit.

The man can't see the wood for the trees, he along with rupp are driving the club down a long road to oblivion, just wait until those season ticket numbers start dropping off, which eventually they will regardless of how cheap they are. We are only a couple of seasons away from them being back to £250+ (based on last couple of rises) slowly away from what a lot of fans will be able to afford.

Rupp and sparks have a couple of seasons to turn this around before serious issues arise

Edwards hasn’t deteriorated so it’ll be about £8m still probably with lots of incentives, Tony moving could also net them big bucks and other players who have moved on Szmondics and Taylor are doing well which could also generate cash for them.
When was the last time we sold a player upwards with the potential of future income who wasn’t a youth player?
I know there’s a lot of speculation with Posh but it definitely works in the main

Szmodics and Taylor are flying. Presume Posh will have healthy sell on clauses, as with Toney.

Not wanting to turn this into a MacAnthony thread but some facts.
Comparison since he took ownership at Peterborough and the corresponding league seasons of the club and is at Bradford.

    Peterborough.

    League 2 - 1 season
    League 1 - 11 seasons
    Championship - 4 seasons

    Bradford

    League 2 - 11 seasons
    League 1 - 6 seasons
    Championship 0 seasons.

Fans of clubs will moan no matter what division they are.in, it's the nature of the beast.
But looking at those facts above, I know which club has the better owner.
    And it ain't us.

There is no doubt Fry and MacAnthony have made millions for the club my question would be where has it all gone they have had the odd season in the Championship then relegation but the money they have generated through the sale of players in the past should have been able to keep them in the Championship so where all the brass gone.
