Looks like he changes up his approach. At Motherwell he used a 5 at the back, 433, 4231 and 442. Similar story at Salford.

Seemed to use the 433 more often than others. Looks like he wants midfielders that run, Gilly might be his cuppa tea, Smallwood and McDonald probably battling for the sitting slot.

Its just demoralising for the players seeing the same faces (if he takes training). Haven’t been bothered up to now but its clear the players downed tools under Hughes so a clean break from that coaching team may benefit everybody.

 

Agree it should absolutely be the target, however I’m sadly feeling pretty defeatist already that that seems like a bloody big ask.

6pts off the play offs and 90pts at stake. Hopefully a new manager bounce, then get Pattison and Oliver back in the squad and January window will be here before we know it. Trim the fat, a couple of additions and a Jake Young recall - Im feeling hopeful.

Its a solid 7/10 appointment for me.
