Derek Adams' views on his time at VP

He makes a lot of good points but his abrasive nature didn’t help his cause. Can’t argue with what he’s doing at Morecambe though.

 

I think it’s a fair article, but it doesn’t touch on his faults. A lack of personality and shocking football been the main two.

 

This is the guy who insisted on having his own scouts, then didn't use them.
He got Turnbull out in the process.

 

Doesn't own the stadium, doesn’t own then training ground. Has no foundation or structure.. Well said.

 

Didn't read the articles but did he mention his awful recruitment and awful brand of football.

 

I think Derek thought he could take advantage of that lack of structure and football knowledge at an organisational level and basically behave how, and do what, he wanted - which is what led to his downfall.

 

We might not own the stadium or the training pitch but they do exist for use and he still had one of the biggest budgets in the league... More Adams blaming anyone but Adams. The exact same lack of humility and self reflection that led to fans not liking him.

 

S he's basically saying Morecambe are a bigger club. Deluded derek.

 

I think he is right about expectations and supporters reactions. I still go back to the Mansfield game earlier this season I couldn’t believe the meltdown on here because we only got a point. He is probably right if he had reigned in his attitude he may have got us out the league. Bowyer was another that we should have kept longer.we need to stand by managers sometimes when things in the short term are not going well

What can we do about the ground? Rhodes didn’t negotiate a buy back clause, Gibb won’t sell as it’s a cash cow. To be honest the rent isn’t that horrific compared to some clubs. As for the training ground the facilities at that school are very good and would it make Odasebe,Taylor Odour and the rest better players if we owned our own training facilities. We had far far worse training facilities even in Paul Jewell days.

He's a very bitter man and we seem to be living in his head rent free, however we can all give him a warm reception when he next visits us with his massive club !

 

Fair play to him, he's been more successful than any of our managers over the past six seasons. Theres a constant in our failure as a club, he was only a small part of it, the bigger part is still here.

 

I think he is right in fairness.

That said, he wasn’t the right fit for our club. Not sure what the due diligence process was. Who did we speak to before appointing him??

On paper he looked fine but had the personality of a cat turd.

that time he called out Sparks and said we couldn’t find anyone better was brilliant - never heard such arrogance from a boss here before.

Adams is right. He's been a success at every club he's been at, except ours. Wonder why?

There is structural issues at the club which to be honest should have been rectified when we dropped into L2. We're five years down the line and the club is still a shell as such.

That being said, he was never a good fit here and his personality was never going to win the crowd over.
