I don’t agree. They will be paid for the 6 months and if they are as good as their interview claims they will get an extension. So in other words if you have been honest at interview then you have no need to worry. Any contract will make sure the goals agreed in contract negotiations for the 6 months are implemented.
I don’t know about anyone else but I am fed up of paying ppl for poor performance.

 

Managers won’t sign for six months. They’ll want 18 minimum, if not another year on top. If you don’t offer it, another club will.

only exception may be a first time manager promoted from within, proving themselves.

the board need to make sure the appointments are right.

There it is in a nutshell. They want the club to pay for their failures. Would rather have an up and coming manager.

Really, I wouldn't be suprised.

 

It's a decent argument, but in reality it won't get you a new manager other than one who is desperate. Possibly would work on a six months rolling contract where they are guaranteed six months pay if sacked at any point.

 

If some are unhappy with the calibre we can attract now, it would be significantly lower if we only offered 6 months.

I don’t call managers seeking work desperate if they can do what they say they can do they will get work. If they can’t then seek alternative work. If it is a lottery ie keep paying for 2 years whether they have fulfilled their goals or not. I put my lottery on every week chances of success nearly nill. Same concept that is operating within football.
