Looks like the data pre-dates Hughes job before us, because to a man, everyone he has signed is pants. Most significantly, the loans.

Recruit managers who live up to their CV and reputations it’s not a CEOs job to interfere in the football side except to recruit offield staff and provide finance

Yeah it is nonsense. I was taking the pizz (you wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t seen it), about the muddy school as somebody suggested we are picking injuries up using a wet/muddy plain at Apperley Bridge for training. Load of bollox I reckon as it never hampered Allenby/Parky.

Tordoff used to block signings that Dolan wanted to make due to them being over 30 and supporters were angry that Tordoff got involved. Now apparently Sparks is supposed to go against Hughes and Gent and say “He’s not good enough “. The animosity towards Sparks is now beyond ridiculous.

Right. So as an example, you don't think in January Sparks should have said to Hughes, 'fair enough if you want to bring Derbyshire in because you've worked with him before and think he can improve us, but it's a deal until the end of the season and then we look at it again in the summer or nothing. Because I think he should and if he had any footballing acumen at all, he would have done.

Because that's working so well for us Park?

You realise most other clubs have long since evolved beyond just leaving it all to the manager?

Exactly. A proper DoF vetoes that deal. And vetoes the deal for an out and out target man like Oliver on a 3 year deal when he clearly didn't fit one iota into Hughes style.

The thing is what does he do now ????

We all wanted the manager he brought in apart from McCall van you really blame him for that ???
I cannot recall mass protests when Bowyer,Adams and Hughes where brought in.
Was it Ryan's fault that Bowyer decided that using a strike force that was the envy of the league was not the way forward ???
Was it his fault that Adams simply bored the crap out of everyone????
Was it his fault that Hughes had us playing the Man City way without the Man City players ????
If he does go then what ????? We bring a football man in who would have probably hired the manager Ryan has done

His whole recruitment is a litany of this exacmple.

McDonald - two years after only being back in the game six months
    Oliver - Three Years
    Odusina
    Young
    East
Derbyshire - 18 months when he's not played in the UK since before Pointon could walk
In hindsight - Cook on a 3 year deal was also madness, when we should have tied him to a new two year deal at Xmas 2022.
    Ash Taylor - Two Years.

Hughes has effectively tied our recruitment hands until the summer 2025 window, unless someone can work miracles shifting out certain players. If there is an £11m deal on the table, half of that could be the cost of paying off our bloated, uninspiring and uniterested squad.

I agree. Let’s sign up one of Nick Allenby. Why don’t we ring Nick up and ask him to recommend someone?

Yes. And it speaks to the ‘what does he do now’ question. The reason it’s his fault, is because he’s responsible for setting the footballing vision and philosophy for the club. How we play, our identity, the principles that guide our managerial, scouting and recruitment approach. If he’s brought in a manager whose whole outlook was always going to sit at odds with the expectation of fans and the ‘norm’ for the league, then of course he’s at fault. That’s how accountability works.

As for what he does now, I don’t relish him doing anything, because I think he’s entirely out of his depth. His CV indicates he’s been over-promoted or certainly promoted before he’s ready. A genuine CEO would have clarity on the points above, and a strong network of contacts that would proactively identity the best managerial candidates to fit that vision. The search wouldn’t be limited to only unemployed managers and indeed, such is the materiality of the appointment we should be willing to stump up the compensation required to bring in a successful manger who’s not unwanted elsewhere. If our finances are believed, we have £5m+ of revenue that isn’t going into the playing budget, so you can’t tell me we can’t find a couple of hundred grand from somewhere. And the mandate for the manager needs to be clear from the outset - principles on playing style, player type, squad size, recruitment approach.

There will be no clubs leaving it to CEOs picking players they leave that to the professionals. Yes some have DOFs but that’s just another football professional opinion

No one’s suggesting that the CEO picks players.
