Last season was disastrous because it ended in failure just the same as if we’d finished 8th.
Playoffs mean zilch unless you win them.

The elite fans will already know as we were in them on Tues and the week before going to Wimbledon. Cheers for the update though

Probably too difficult to say until we see who the new manager is and how he sets us up.

I think we have a reasonable squad that with a fair wind could trouble the top 7 but we're short in key areas and our stand out players of last term arguably are the ones now costing us points.

What I do want to see is a removal from the slow, possession based approach and more balls into the box and shots. I know it's easier said than done but I'm bored of being, er, bored at games and even if the fabled promotion does prove to be out of reach for now I'd much rather the Wrexham performance than the Harrogate one, even if the end result is the same.

Taylor was far from on his own, odd you named him specifically when he was one of the decent ones last Saturday.? Stubbs was no better

I think his superb pass to the opposition for the 4th goal was the most glaring error by him and stuck in my mind.
There were plenty more by all of the team, I don't think I have seen such an error strewn performance in years.

I'd play every other centre half, including the juniors before I picked Taylor again.

He's a terrible player who unfortunately for us needs a pacey partner alongside him which is absolutely the opposite of Stubbs.

Those two together must be an attackers dream if they've even got the slightest bit of pace and movement.

Im dreading this. Angol, Patrick and Dion in one team against us? Like Payne struck, at least one of them will score. Patrick most likely given our slow CBs.

i just hope the return of Richie and Walker makes us mobile again and we aren’t chasing shadows as we did all night on Tuesday.

    please stop dropping clangers, harry.

cooky, look like a striker again please

I’d start with Doyle in goal and no I’m not joking.
Lewis needs to snap out of whatever shit is in his head or spend some time on the bench.

Well I’ve decided last minute to go to the game tomorrow as I think it’ll be a long time before we go back there.
Sutton will go down this season and in all honesty can’t see them returning very quickly.

Oh I don’t disagree Dave , not my cuppa , but the point is he was no worse than Stubbs on Tues imho . I do think we will see Platt back though.

The Harrogate performance was an atrocity, to be fair.

    Gutless garbage.

I stand by the idea that the players stopped believing in a style that got us to the play offs, and through no direct fault of Mark's. You can't get hammered for playing a certain way without losing confidence in it.

I don't doubt they stopped believing, if I was a player, I would have too after the Carlisle debacle. I stand by that we were absolutely a better team than them yet were hamstrung by the tactics and failure to really attack teams.

If we had, I believe we'd now be in the division above.

I think we will bounce back today with a narrow scrappy win.

Good to see Walker, Smallwood and hopefully Platt back today. Also hopefully Chappers gets more minutes from the bench too

Maybe. They probably had the best player on the field though in Moxon. We did have Cook, though.

It's a real shame our midfield was so goal shy...

I thought Stubbs was clearly the worst of the two, but I've heard people making excuses that Taylor somehow made Stubbs play badly.

I hope whoever plays at centre back looks remotely competent today... should be Platt and Stubbs if for no other reason than they're an established and experienced partnership.

    I'm not sure about that.

Scoring goals is the hardest part of the game and I think Cook out performed Moxon. He certainly did from an attacking sense in terms of goal involvement although having not watched Carlisle much perhaps I'm doing Moxon a disservice for his play in other areas.

He seemed much like Elliot Watt to me though, excellent statistics bulked out by taking all the set pieces but never really seemed a step above that actual level whenever I'd seen him play like a Lewis O'Brien for a recent example.

The difference being that Stubbs has played consistently well at various times whereas Taylor looks completely out of his depth in every performance.

Apart from Grimsby when he was excellent and Wrexham when he held his own against Mullin & Fletcher.

See, describing him as "excellent" against Grimsbys reserves just completely ends the debate.

If that's your standard then it's pointless although it does feel a little like the all too regular method on here of over compensating because you feel he's been harshly criticised.
