If Gibb was the interested party I would prefer to stick with Rupp. Gibb is only interested in promoting his own core business and probably protecting his pension fund prize assett

His partner Rahic overspent on the playing budget by about 2 million in our relegation season. Rupp loaned us 1.6 million I believe interest free to stop us going into administration The McBurnie money was put into the business to fund the club over the next couple of years. Having read Rhodes article in the Athletic that we had to sell Wells just to keep trading despite Wembley promotion and League cup final just months earlier, you can see how expensive it is to run a football club.

Don’t ask awkward questions please, Rupp is a great guy doing a great job for the club etc.

This is why I believe it's not a bad price.
It starts to look reasonable to interested parties when you look at what it would cost to buy a club with these things in place.

That article is a very basic calculation though doesn't cover any of the extra incomings such as ifollow coverage, the relief package from the PL, a reduced staff level and the furlough scheme etc etc.

I'm not saying we didn't lose money but there are clearly other factors that would need to be taken into consideration.

No doubt we were big winners from iFollow. I found it strange that Sparks voted for the new Sky TV deal, considering there was no iFollow. We've lost the advantage over other clubs there.

He didn’t say that , I thought more than one refers to “ sources” . I may have read it wrong?

    Colchester’s cost £15m years ago and holds 12k -15k I think.

We don't see the figures to be fair and given Sparks has done well on the commercial front I'm happy to accept his opinion that this was the best deal for the football club.

The new Oxford stadium is under development, 16,000 seater with a hotel has a budget of £100m.

Brentford paid £71m for their new ground but cost of London probably gets that pushed up.

He accepted we would lose money in the short term. The big hope was that League 1 & Championship payments were much larger than before. You've got to get there first!

Yes, the 2019/20 season when Covid had most of its impact was a dreadful year financially. ;) The club didn't lose money. Indeed, it didn't just make a profit, it made a significant one at almost £1.2 mill! That was largely derived from the McBurnie fee but also from the Govt's furlough scheme which covered employee costs during the lockdown. It was also helped by those of us who are season ticket supporters. We pay for our ST'S upfront which helped the club enormously. Nobody sought or received a refund to my knowledge. Yes, we lost some pay-on-the-day revenues and some of the profit on food and drink when the stadium was closed but equally we also had a significant income stream from IFollow. It was far from the catastrophe that some have made out. Importantly, it didn't require any funding from the owner.

Whichever interpretation I would have though he would have snapped their hands off if they were legit. I always ridiculed the suggestion he wanted £10m for us but maybe it's true

Interesting paragraph taken from the owner of Hartlepool who has been abused and decided to put the club up for sale in April and hasn’t received any creditable offers.

“One aspect that has been an evident issue during this process is the Club’s lack of ground ownership. That point was obviously something that I had been looking to address with the local authority longer term. It is unlikely that an international standard investor will step into a Club that doesn’t own its own ground with the potential to develop it for additional revenue streams.”
