If you want to be successfully IMO at the right time the owners have to back the manager financially, not so much in league two as I believe the past few managers we've had should have been quite capable of getting us promotion.

 

Is this a windup? Why change from an owner who clearly has no interest? Who has seen 7 years of decline? Hired and fired 9 managers? Hired and fired 2 directors of recruitment? Hired communication head of with no experience of running a football operation?

He epitomises what’s wrong with this club which is a lack of footballing competence.

 

But other than all that he sounds great…

Always someone else’s fault in his defenders eyes, why he has any I’ll never know. A lack of accountability, not too dissimilar to the lack of accountability running through the club from the top down in these last 7+ years.

 

I suggest there are two main criteria in club leadership: footballing and financial competence. This does not necessarily need to be enacted from the owner directly, but needs to be driven by them.

So therein lies the problem with a potential sale, it is the same regime overseeing it. I think Rupp will ensure financial due diligence is robustly done. The football competence side is a bit trickier, but hopefully he does care enough to at least try and ask the right questions and endeavour not to have the wool pulled over his eyes again.

But there will be no guarantees, and any potential owner can make the right noises and actually be clueless and/ or do what they want after the sale.

 

You don't understand inflation. A small child could wrap his head around that.....

However, he brought us as a div 1 club. We are now a shite div 2 club. Understand that!! Get it into your head.

I have stated he would get about 7.5m for the club so yes I get inflation but for me 10m plus isn’t happening.

He gets exactly what he wants because he will be happy to plod along until he does - so get that into your head.

 

And this is why he’s a shite owner. Doesn’t care! So while he plods we will continue not to progress!

Fans just need to understand this and lower expectations!

And that's all your opinion. In reality if someone wants to buy, they'll pay what he asks.... the club is worth what he's asking regardless of whether you agree or not.

 

I'd prefer an owner who had an interest in our club and not just about sustainability or balancing the books although that's not a bad thing, I'd suggest during our time of watching Bradford City we have only had Geoffrey Richmond aided by the Rhodes family, we have dabbled with success here and there but it has all been based on the manager getting the best from his squad not finance put in by the chairman/owners.

 

Whether he has any interest or not we are producing top 4 or 5 budgets every year without pouring any external debt on. He has appointed staff who are interested and are being successful commercially and Success on the field will follow.
Unless a new owner comes in and injects a lot of money in there is no point in change

I don't dislike Rupp as such, think he seems a reasonable bloke overall but he really isn't right for the club.

The last 6 (and into this 7th) season have been so enjoyable...

 

Mark Lawn and Julian Rhodes are both massive city fans so you you could say that’s ‘having an interest’
There could be and probably is a big city fan out there with 10million in the bank, enough to buy the club….but then what? How much additional funds will be invested? Zero.
Could they afford to cover the losses? No
So realistically we need an owner , interested or not that’s willing to spunk lots of their fortune and I don’t see a long line of people meeting that criteria.
