I believe there was a similar situation when Wetherall took the job on as caretaker. He didn’t have the badges the FA require.

I agree. The article provides little if anything on how our club with its huge following can convert its potential into reality. Why do we appear to have become the league's eternal under-achievers? Not long before he was sacked, Adams made an intriguing comment. It was something on the lines of there is an underlying and fundamental issue at VP which will prevent us progressing much. He never explained what he meant by this, the club ignored it and it all went quiet. I don't know whether these things are all connected or just the ramblings of a soon to be sacked manager.

I'd be giving him (and Trueman) a month or so. That isn't a reaction to Saturday's much improved performance but to provide the club with more time to properly assess who we want as our next manager and to do that in a serious way and not react in a knee jerk manner. We have to make the right decision.

There was a time when Hannes Wolf got down to 1/2 as someone said they saw him leaving LBA.

I have read the article twice and there is no comment from Hughes at all

As long as it takes to hold a series of interviews with serious candidates and to take references and character assessments. There is no doubt about it this is a very difficult job the pressure is greater than most others at this level

I'm guessing he is taking up his A or his pro badge course now? Fulham say he obtained coaching badges whilst there. And when he joined Exeter, the press release said he is also on another course for further badges. The A course is a 12 month course and the Pro course is 18 months. Guessing he might be on one of those by this point?

A comment with zero substance or evidence to support it from Adams excusing his failure to achieve on the grass.

As long as required and if results continue to be positive we may have the shortest round table interview on record ? Assumes he would want the job?

I'm taking Big Mac at his word at this stage. He said only recently that he still has a desire to continue playing. He wants to become a manager at some point but not just yet. Who knows whether this will change or not in the near future.

Would agree Adam’s called this out to detract from himself.

However the facts speak for themselves year upon year of failure, numerous managers, 2 heads of recruitment and I don’t want to remember the number of ridiculously poor players and that’s just under Rupps tenure.

Grounds a mil stone round its neck financially.
Cheap crowds intimidate our players but somehow inspire the opposition.
Training ground although I understand it’s not as bad as some make out we are still way off other clubs (albeit in the higher leagues)
Training pitches - again money spent but the amount of soft tissue injuries we’ve had at this club it has to be related.
Lack of a board with proper football know how.

That’s what i think Adam’s was alluding to and in time when the dust settles Hughes will say similar.

Sparks has stated that the Ground is good value considering we get 24/7 access. We get full commercial opportunities from the ground and we can use it 365 days a year.
Injuries were down last season. We got off pretty lightly last season, particularly when in comparison with Stevenage & Northampton.
Our training ground is as good as anything in the division, so that can't be an excuse. There's league 2 Manager's who don't know where they are training tomorrow.
The crowds only become intimidating when we haven't been good enough on the pitch.
Recruitment has been hit and miss. This summer looks particularly poor. Get it wrong over 2/3 windows and the consequences will follow.

I'd say our training facilities are probably better than any at this level and at least as good as many clubs in league 1 and Championship. I'd love someone to tell me what it is that would improve our facilities because although many moan about them and sight them as a problem, I don't hear them saying what it is that we are missing.

Very much a headline that isn't in keeping with the article - in which it mentions that Hughes didn't help himself with his chosen style of play, and that the job is better suited to someone with knowledge of the league.

He’s got them in a playoff spot. Unlikely Rooney or anyone else won’t beat that this season. Probably a commercially driven decision. Both him and Neil Harris can feel themselves unlucky. Must be an American thing, oh and an Edin thing! Ryan Reynolds appears to have changed the football landscape.

I don’t know the set up but I do know that any particular bad weather disrupts our prep. I get that will be the case for most but the river etc can’t help.

For me it’s the sheer number over the years of soft tissue injuries, granted last year improved but this year we are back to form.

Honestly never known a club to have such bad luck with injuries.. for me it has to be preparation and that’s on the coaches and fitness staff, how the player Trains and Looks after themselves is on them. However I think the surroundings must play a part.

I think you are absolutely correct that it's on the coaches and fitness staff. Same facilities when Parky was here but fewer injury issues, difference was we had an excellent fitness and conditioning coach at that time in Nick Allenby.

Disagree totally with Harris, he’s a dull manager who makes Hughes look adventurous. Never scored more than 2 in a match and something like 55 goals in 70+ games is totally appalling. Oversaw a relegation and could have been a double had said owner not chucked loads of money his way. This season he carried on despite probably the second biggest budget in the league by scraping 1 goal wins until they started conceding and their form collapsed. If he’s unlucky so is Hughes.

John Eustace. Any other club in lower championship, or Div 1 will be looking at him so highly doubtful. He's being hard done by but that happens with a change of ownership.
