Nope you can't. Because you don't even have a full season to compare against. Seems like a knee jerk reaction - a few bad games and writing him off. I bet you wrote Cook off as lazy and fat a couple of years ago too.

 

I'm not saying he'll definitely become some kind of league two Pirlo now Hughes has gone but some players do perform better with a change of manager. They seem to just relish the change in system or a sight positional tweak.

That applies to the whole squad of course, not just Smallwood and unfortunately it can also go there opposite way!

No I look at it like this,

He’s a professional footballer
He’s employed by BCAFC, not MH.
He’s salary obligation is to the employer ,not the manager
If he’s fallen out with the manager he should take it further if he thinks he has a case

He had the freedom to express himself at Barrow , under a completely independent manager , who has no issues with him or his behaviour prior to going to Barrow.

Under those freedoms he should be able to express himself as a professional footballer or was he still sulking? The fact that Barrow had no further interest in him speaks volumes?

Using that evidence , I wouldn’t have him back. I have no interest in him Serge to be honest. He’s done it once he could easily do exactly the same if that attitude as a pro footballer is his go to behaviour .

Have you noticed his weight hasn't been mentioned since Newport? Before that apparently he'd come back overweight this season and wasn't moving as well.

Nothing to do with the knocks he was clearly carrying, it's just his weight. A lazy take and one that's simply never been true.

It's almost in the same legendary category as the nonsense that "Rhys Evans couldn't dive to his left".

 

Head Coach is more focused on the training pitch and matchday and normally work under a director of football who decide on the players to bring in then it's up to the head coach to get the best out of them. A manager will take more of an active role in recruitment and other areas of the club

The laziest stereotyoe I see on here. When he scores he's a hero, when he has a lean spell it's cos he's obviously gone away and got fat innit.

 

Hughes and Barrow were convinced young was more a wing back and not a striker. He left Barrow who played him there and fell out with Hughes because he wanted the same where Young with his pace was a striker before he joined us and believed had been signed as such until Hughes repositioned him deeper

 

You are very wrong actually. I never wrote Cook off cos by the time the dry spell came, he'd already scored almost as much as previous seasons, so anything for the rest of the season could only be a bonus

Lewis has dropped bollocks in every single game this season - 3 in the Walsall game alone. He has single-handedly cost us many points, it isn't a one-off. The issue is he has no realistic competition so is complacent a lot of time, which to be fair is not his doing and the next manager must address this issue

I know we will agree to disagree on this one, but I mentioned it several times last season too, that as good as Lewis was at reactionary saves, his distribution from a goal kick was absolutely abysmal, as was his command of his penalty box. The handball way outside his box at Newport last season was a huge error, fortunately the ref took pity on him - most in this league wouldn't. But on the whole he connected with the fans and generally did a reasonable job. This season is a different kettle of fish, if he has mental/confidence issues - seek help. This isn't the fans fault ffs and is unfair on us

 

The top names on the betting list for the Gillingham job. Scott Lindsey is on that list but not on ours, did ok at Swindon then strangely left to join Crawley and some how doing well with them.

 

Poor lad gets shit every game, particularly from the away fans. Walsall and Tranmere chants of "you fat b*stard" etc was relentless, Walsall in particular. Mansfield was the same. Perhaps they were more vocal than most cos he used to play for all 3 of those teams I mention, but I still don't get it as he looks reasonably lean
