He let too much go at corners. Every time we got one they were pulling us all over the shop.

Otherwise he wasn’t bad at all.

 

When Smallwood came on, I don't think he took the captains armband off Stubbs. I could be mistaken but I didn’t see it and if that is the case could we be seeing Stubbs has the new Captain? And if he did take the armband, ignore this post

 

They may have form but from minute one they were absolute garbage. Maybe our pace made it so.?

 

I don’t get this detestation of players Offy. I can’t see what he did wrong after coming on . Can you pinpoint anything he did that matches up with your comment. He’s an average L2 player, but compare him with say their player Drysdale , he’s bloody Massie.

He did look very good Tony. Goal , assist and vet active for 3/4 of the game. Faded a bit but that’s game time!

Your player assessments Zero, nil, nadda, f/all. No player warranted a 10 for goodness sake, and giving subs who probably played for a few minutes brought on to do a specific job a score is meaningless nonsense. Smith and Oggy a four on that basis …whaaat?

 

Eh!! If you think Hughes took any notice of the fans to make a change or go in a different direction you're sadly deluded.
Tbf he always said from the start of the season that the 3 at the back wasn't set in stone and he just wanted the players to be able to adapt to different formations.
It was as plain as day that the 3 or more often than not 5, at the back wasn't getting the desired effect, so as manager he had to change it. Absolutely nothing to do with fan reaction or social media/forums etc.
If he was that influenced by fans, surely he would have started with Bobby Pointon today but no the analysis done on Newport would have determined which way he was gonna go today as well as adressing our lack of goals.
Too early for fans to slap themselves on the back after some over the top knee-jerk reactions.

 

Can we repeat this performance.

We will see.

So a player coming back from injury who hasn't started for a month and scores a hat-trick away from home doesn't deserve full marks for going above and beyond what most people would've expected?.... OK.
A player making his debut away from home who gets an assist and a goal doesn't deserve full marks?..... Ok
A player who comes into midfield and totally controls that area, plays some delightful passes, through balls and shows the captain of the team just how that role should be played?....... Ok
A defender in Stubbs who won absolutely everything in the air, made blocks and even showed a turn of pace not seen before and more importantly wore the captain's armband with distinction?...... OK.
I only graded the others because there was so many good performances I had over half of them rated so I thought I might as well do the others and I wanted to include how abject a performance Osadebe gave, and on reflection I was wrong I should have awarded him no more than 2. Thanks for correcting me.

 

He would have been aware of it, as he mentioned it in his Harrogate post-match interview. Taking notice of said disgruntled fans and implementing a change because of it are 2 different things!

 

Really great performance. Took them apart in first half hour and could easily scored 5 in first half. Second half: composed, nullified anything County had to offer. Got to be made up for Cook and he obviously splits opinions, but well done Hughes. However, this has to be the kick start. Some of the home games have been so dreary. I was amazed at what I saw today - it was like night and day, but City looked so comfortable. Let’s hope I’m not sinking back into misery next Saturday.
