Who would you go for, Tony? I really can't come up with a name.

I wouldn't know, maybe the Cowley's,glad I don't have to make that decision but I think all 3 (Hughes, Hodges and Gent) are past their usefulness for us now ...

How about Mike Williamson at Gateshead? Lots of league experience as a player, made a lot of progress with Gateshead and plays good football. I'd certainly look at up and coming managers rather than down and going like Hughes.

Unbelievable that you want us to lose when we are three points from a play off place with key injuries. City fans

I can’t see a way back for Hughes so it is in the best interests of out football club that he goes as soon as possible. Losing quickens that process, which will benefit us in the long run.

we’ll have to pay him off but so be it. At least another season won’t be wasted.

Only three points because we’d played a handful of games. We’re playing like a team going nowhere.

oldham were similar in National League. Going nowhere under Unsworth despite splashing cash and getting Norwood. Given him the bullet and won last week

The club should be carrying out due diligence and research now. No need to risk defeats by sacking Hughes and falling behind even further, as we ain’t losing at the moment.

I’m not enamoured by Hughes’ style in the slightest, but if he turns it around and we start winning that’ll do for me. I think he realises he’s got to turn this ship around, so if it comes off, brilliant, we can all focus on pulling in the same direction.

Good call, plays 4231 as well. Do think his football might require a bit of patience from the fans which might invoke a lot of tutting from the stands...

If we are wanting to look at managers in the National League then Andy Woodman should be on the list with the very good job he's done at Bromley.

If the axe should fall Trevor, I am of the opinion that McDonald should be put in charge temporarily while a permanent appointment can be made.
I wasn't a fan of the Truman era, like Hughes, too much playing across the back for me.
I think that the list of interested candidates would be surprising.

    Anyway, it's immaterial at present!!

For all those saying we should give him more time etc hoping he will turn it round (he won't)
What will you actually miss WHEN he's gone ??
What's he done to improve the club
    What legacy has he left
He's brought nothing to the table shows no promise of bringing anything either apart from 3 year contracts to pub level players who we are stuck with he will leave us in a worse position than when he joined

Well in his latest pre Newport interview IMO he looked very much a man under pressure, once again very touchy with regards perfectly reasonable questions, yes he doesn't have to worry about where the next meal is coming from, although I do believe as he said he missed the day to day involvement unfortunately it doesn't look to be working out for him.

I'm sure he will be feeling pressure as he knows if he gets sacked that is probably the end of his career in football management. If his heart wasn't in it he would have walked away a long time ago as he has not reason to stay. If he left I'm sure any money he's made since taking over he could have made in after dinner speaking or media work and if he's not bothered about management he wouldn't have missed it.

We’ve had record turnover, record attendances, probably attracted sponsors who wouldn’t have been interested otherwise. I think it’s a bit poor to say he hasn’t done anything for the club.

I have to say, the amount of noise about him being sacked is pretty deafening. Is it just us on here, or are the majority wanting to see him leave? Sparks always says he listens to the fans. I think if we lose tmrw, Sparks has no choice.

Not a lot of replacements though. Would you take Warnock until the end of the year/season to try and get some wins on the board? Look abroad for a successful up and coming manager. I think Sparks could very well bury his head in the sand.
