He must be on 2k a week you would think. Woking will be paying no more than £500 IMO.

In fairness though, how does changing sides effect his ability to head a ball?

I agree he's seemingly has a rough deal but he still needed to do much better in the few appearances he did make.

He played on the left of a back 3 for Hartlepool. His issues when he played last season were down to the basics of defending like getting too tight and being turned.
He had a chance to show what he can do by going on loan to Hartlepool in January but turned it down. If he's as good a player as some make out I'm sure he won't be short of league 2 offers in January.

He was barely given a chance to improve with any game time whatsoever. If he’d had as many lives as Smallwood, we’d probably have a solution to our defence woes of no pace. You don’t go from player of the season at one club, to suddenly being no good whatsoever. Just another example of Hughes not being used to improving young players, as opposed to having a choice of ready made professionals in the premier league.

I speak to the Chairman of Tunbridge Angels from time to time and last season he told me Woking were paying big bucks. Don’t know if it’s still the same but it had made a few eyes water according to him.

Like a few under this regime it’s whether their face fit. Some get all the time in the world to play themselves into form and others have no chance

Does it surprise you @vin weasel@vin weasel, yes I get the "Hughes sees him in training every day" I also get we shouldn't offer players 3 year deals on one very good performance against Bradford City, I'm sure they watched him in more games, but you do have to wonder with regards some of the deals we've handed out.

Some say when a players going through a bad spell you either drop him or play him back into form, I believe the latter to be the case with regards Smallwood ;).

    No he didn't.
Watch Hartlepool v Torquay in the National League play off final.
    Right side of the 3.
I'm not doubting that he looked poor in what we've seen of him but it's the same with Vadaine Oliver.
We get a target man in who thrives on delivery to the back post, outswinging crosses, yet play a right footer on the left and a left footer on the right!!
Play players in positions they thrive, and give players the supply they thrive on.
League 1 and 2 players with limitations.
Hughes thinks they can play anywhere and anyway.

Not sure any of us above 60 have got enough time left for the second option.

Watching the Sheffield Wednesday/Boro game and the cameras kept panning onto Lyle Taylor, after the game Xisco Muñoz was asked if they were signing Taylor, I know he's 33 but he's had plenty of experience in the lower leagues with Wimbledon and charlton and has a decent scoring record 131 appearances 44 goals at Wimbledon and at Charlton 63 appearances 32 goals, a free agent ?.

He'd take some time to get up to fitness as he hasn't played for nigh on two years, but at this level he could still do a job surely ? You watch, someone will now point out that he had a career ending injury !!!

He was at the game as a spectator, guest or what? I had a look at his stats, and he looked to be in decent form leading up to the forest move. Then they didn’t play him all season and released him. Can’t see any injury or personal problems either.

He's been on trial at Sheff Weds for a few weeks now. Seems like they are going to give him an offer until Jan.

They have Lee Gregory and Michael Smith who are at best L1 standards at this stage in their career and can't hack the pace of the champ. They need a quicker forward but it's another older head. Gregory is 35 and Smith is almost 32 but both are more target men and Munoz wants to play it on the deck.

Cook 3 in 8 apps too.

He's right at the minute though, we do need an upturn. Just 12 goals scored in 12 games so around an average of 46 league goals which won't anywhere near enough over the season.

If I was to revisit it I would increase Paterson only by a few. The rest I still think will be under 5, including Tulloch who I think is very good addition.
