If you're saying that our performance against Crewe replicated out over the season would yield enough points to go up then I can see where you're coming from even though I'd disagree. What I do know for certain is that the level of performance against Crewe would not always result in the same scoreline.

And I know for certain is that every opponent is different and no two games are the same. All that matters is we WON.

That said it is a completely irrelevant argument because performances will be good and bad - as will results. I find it bizarre you got really hung up after a poor first half performance against an undefeated team, averaging over 2 goals a game, and after a 3-0 mauling by Morecambe. We won........and we won again last night.

Some would say we didn't "win" last night. When we get to Wembley in February and win it this time, the history books will disagree.

As far as I am concerned shoot out pen’s are part of cup matches and playoffs. You can’t go cherry picking on which rules are relevant and which are not. Do we cancel 90 minutes the length of the game for 100 mins, and then every Tom dick and harry saying you only won in the 97th minute?

Perform like we did against Crewe and there is no way you get promoted based on those performances.

Absolutely not. A win on penalties is a win. Part & parcel of the game. As Dave Bassett used to say.

Nearly everyone commenting on the game got 'hung up on it' too. If you think we played well you're entitled to your view. I find this reluctance to acknowledge performance an indicator of future prospects bizarre. Top clubs use performance indicators and so do bookies to compile odds for their projections. If you fixate purely on results that's your prerogative. If we outplay Mansfield on Saturday and make a decent account of ourselves without picking up a result I will be full of optimism.

I thought the second half performance against a form team was as good if not better than most home performances last season when we were hanging on. For the first time under Hughes we were one up and we’re going for a second and it was refreshing. I know the first half was poor but at least the defence was solid
