Do you have a time stamp for that? Specifically him saying they were “excellent” against Crawley? Or “very good”?

After giving that a listen Hughes says at 5:19 that we played well yesterday and played well against Crawley.

I didn't hear any other mention of Crawley in that clip.

Accrington made 8 changes from the team that won last Saturday. There was quite a few very inexperienced youngsters in their team.

It did feel like a stalemate in the first half, although I thought City looked more threatening with the ball. Stanley didn't pose much of an attacking threat all game, really. They had a few half chances but there wasn't a period where they were on top and City were just holding on.

With a full strength Accrington side, I think City would have found it a much trickier proposition. But, you can only play the team that's in front of you. At least someone other than Cook scored from open play for a change.

Playing well and excellent are two different things.

I thought the team played well both games (before the sending off ) considering not many of those players are used to a back 3, but did not play “excellent” nor “very good”.

I shouldn’t have to point out both are very different from “well”. Hughes might as well have said it was an exemplary performance if we are going to over exaggerate.

 

I recall him being a danger in that season opener at Shrewsbury... Wouldn't have minded a younger him signing for us.

never thought we were gash before the red though, even with what I have said above.

 

Going forward we'd played some half decent stuff. Oduor looked a threat and there was off the ball movement from Walker and Pattison. Defensively a shambles but doesn't register in my mind as a really bad performance, just a bit 'meh' as the kids say

 

Does it matter how we won. We are in the draw and for cup football that's all that matters.

 

Anyone know when the draw is for round two ?.........................

Just seen @SteveC post a lot on my mind at present, Wrexham away, now that has to be in Skys mind to show that game, Phil Parkinson against his old club that he took to the Final plus Mark Hughes team he supported as a kid ?.

 

Put that way, it should be a cert for TV.

There's no way an all-League Two second round cup match will be on TV ahead of fixtures with Premier League teams.

Absolutely no chance. It's a big game for us as fans of this game and the Parkinson factor and maybe a bit to the broader 4th tier but to anyone in the 3 leagues above us it's irrelevant and not interesting.

 

Neither were the two games shown this week
