Awesome that Bristol side, cant believe it was over 8 years ago that game when they destroyedus. He was a very good defender. Doesn't sound like he's anywhere near the level he was, imagine he'd still do a job at L2 level. He turned down Notts County to sign for Mansfield.

Just chatting to a pal at work who's a Wednesday fan and said Flint is joining our league. Said he was a solid defender still but can't run or mark anymore, struggled against every striker in L1 with pace. His last start was the 1st leg of the play offs when Peterboroughs pacey front line tore him to shreds.

Oldham beat Wrexham to the signing of James Norwood from Barnsley. Maybe Wrexham not the star attraction they thought they were. I understand they have been struggling to get other targets signed up too

Guessing this was the one Parky said they'd given up on earlier today. Gone in with a higher bid for another striker and lodged a bid for another one. Said they are being priced out

Oldham have gained a few good players now for that level, new owners backing their promise of spending.

 

I wonder if they've tried for Armstrong. Harrogate saying they've rejected a bid.

 

Seems feasible, looks decent that lad.

 

Regardless of their success last season, people are going to know they're going under the microscope there. It's a media circus, and while Parky does a good job of making sure that doesn't affect his players too much, it's not going to be everybody's cup of tea.

We've had players reject us and move to smaller clubs for no obvious reason in the past, and I honestly think for some players it's just the pressure.

If someone's wanting to go to Oldham instead of Wrexham, it's probably because they feel they'll have an easier time playing their football in that environment.

 

So what position do people think is the priority for the remainder of the window?

1. For me it's LWB. Ridehalgh doesn't have the legs or attacking intent. Odour isn't comfortable defending. Gillead won't deliver enough balls into the box from the left. We need a real quality addition that can defend, get up and down and offer a threat in the final third.

2. Pacey ball playing CB. Stubbs Platt and Taylor all seem to suited to the central role. Which leaves Kelly and Odusina as naturally suited to the wider positions, but we don't know if they're good enough for a promotion team.

Beyond that I'd look at a physical striker to challenge only if Oliver is going to be out for a while. I don't feel a winger is priority as they won't fit the system. If we do go 3-4-3, we have Odour, Chapman, Pointon, Walker and Osudebe suited to playing wider in a 3.

Interestingly we were talking about Scott Banks worth the other week. Reading up about him Hearts turned down a 400k bid for him from palace before he eventually moved south. I think Carlisle might sign hi on loan if he agrees to a contract extension at Palace
