Summer 2023 Transfer Rumours

All quite on the Billy Sharp front I'd have thought someone would have taken a punt before now.

 

According to someone on Facebook yesterday, he is 90% ours, not sure which 10% of him we are not getting!

 

I've heard the behind closed doors game with Rotherham next week is winner gets Billy Sharp.

 

Yes I had a text from the lad who told me about the Brentford guy and for the first two games of the 2023 season saying that and he's not the type to quote anything from face book we'll have to wait and see.

 

I hope it's not true. If we've that sort of money to spend, we should be looking to spend it more wisely imo.

 

Cannot see it myself. I think he will end up at Rovrum.

 

Billy Sharp is not signing for us. Even at his age, he's far too good for this division and it's probably why he has not made a move yet

 

Nah he is past it. Even the best players can’t defy age. Unless he was prepared to take a massive wage cut and play a bit part I say leave well alone

Weve signed Austin Samuels and Theo Robinson in recent years to plug gaps. Id take Billy for a year no problem.

Obviously money is very much a part of any transfer deal but Billy Sharp's wealth is quoted to be £5M would wages be the be all of a transfer deal, he made 38 appearances, last season at Sheffield United in the Championship.
I know who I'd prefer to bring on late into a game if we were chasing the game Oliver or Sharp, as you say age catches up with us all but he has always been known for his goal scoring in the box, having the ability to be in the right place at the right time is something age does not diminish.

 

Looking at the tweet, Derby fans really don't like the idea of signing Sharp. They are supposed to be close to signing Jordan Rhodes but it's dragging on.

 

True. I dont think its a quality issue. Its a 'Steve Evans' issue.

History between Sharp and their fans so maybe not....

 

Seems that way. I still think he'll end up at Rotherham, wouldn't be against bringing him in even at his age but think I'd prefer the pace of Smith to partner Cook. Sharp will still be able to find a L1 club, be amazed if we are the best option on the table.
