Do any historians know if cities with two clubs are religiously based, much like Rangers (Protestant Blue) and Celtic (Catholic Green).

I’m guessing that the clubs colours may possibly give some clue (Blues C of E, and Reds/Greens Catholic). Liverpool/Bristol/Birmingham/Nottingham/Sheffield etc.

I wonder if our bantams are C of E as BPA are predominantly Green - Catholic?

I only chose bantams because my dad took me, not because of my faith, as I don’t think my dad was religious in the slightest.

    Anybody know?

Not aware of any religious connotations. It only leads to sectarian bullsheeet anyway. Liverpool and Everton are a pairing of the opposites. ?

Oddly I don’t think the working populace of Bradford were religious anyway?

I can only think of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast and perhaps Liverpool to a lesser extent where Religion determines which team you support.

I would imagine Geography, certainly in respect of Bradford, is the deciding factor on who families chose

Not relevant in Bradford because we've never really had a massive CoE/ Catholic divide. It's geography that divides (or did) from bpa

BPA ,aka the stans wore green and white due to the influence of an early manager Tom Maley ex Celtic and probably had their better years then.
Their original colours are closer to Bradford Northern

So religion not a part of either the avenue or City

Although Hibs was a Catholic club in 1875 the support these days is based on its location. It is known as the Leith team.

    Knees up Muvver Brahn!!
It's definitely a Catholic club. Started as a Catholic boys club and the name Hibernia is an old name for Ireland!
Just as much of a religious divide between them and Hearts as the two Glasgow clubs, just maybe a bit less on the venemous side.

I remember going for an interview with a Glasgow based company.
First question was are you a blue or a green.
So thinking of Stuart McCall I took a chance and said blue.
I got the job and a much higher salary than I expected.
    Good old Stuart !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember being in the pub full of Rangers fans before Stuart’s testimonial game. That was certainly a crash course in sectarian politics for me
