Summer 2023 Transfer Rumours

It will be odd to anyone who thought Odusina might play, but I've seen zero signs of that.

 

Yeah that’s right…. wonder why he can’t do more exclusives though. It’s frustrating to read an article that you already know the content of.

 

Haven’t been keeping much track of the starting line ups this pre season. At least he’s not been totally outcast like Jake Young

 

It’s an odd situation with him. The three at the back set up should suit him and he’s the only CB in our squad with any pace. Personally I thought that he was better than Kelly tonight.

 

I think Hughes doesn't trust the lad, and that's that unfortunately.

He has a better chance of winning Mark round than Jake Young does, but I'd expect he's available to other clubs behind closed doors. If he stays, it just means we don't have the scope to bring in an extra centre back on loan.

I can see the logic to some thinking he has a part to play, but from what I've seen he just isn't valued.

 

What he is known for IS playing in a three. On that basis , if that’s the way we are going, and it increasingly looks like it is…He will stay as cover and likely an ever present sub?

 

Stefan there tonight I saw… wonder if he’s here supporting a deal, never known him come to preseason games..

 

Only if Hughes trusts him.

Odusina fitting the playing position doesn't make him good enough - he's had a year and a bit now to show Hughes he's good enough, and if Hughes isn't convinced, he'll be free to leave.

I'm sure we have youngsters who can play left side of a back three too, doesn't mean we will be relying on them, if you know what I mean Kev.

 

Yes I do , however I will be surprised if he goes . He didn’t do much wrong against Hull ?

Personally can see him starting. Wouldnt rule it out anyway. He has an asset that our other 4 CBs dont have....

 

Summer holidays. Kids off. Brought em over to Braddy for 2 weeks of sun and sea.

Hughes tried Oduor in a more advanced position - a role the former Barnsley man is keen to nail down.

“It was an opportunity to have a look at him there,” added the City boss.

“He’s come here because of his ability but also because of his flexibility. He can play in a number of positions and Gilly (Alex Gilliead) was in that left wing-back role that he knows anyway.

“I need players who have that flexibility and are able to adapt if they are asked to do a different role.

 

Didn't he play on the right last night? I heard he linked up well with Oggy down that side.

 

Pace

 

It all depends on MH faith in Taylor and Stubbs staying fit AND Platt not getting red an yellow cards. It only leaves Kelly and Odusina as back up!

 

Daily Record has us down as interested in Rangers winger Ross McCausland on loan.
20 year old played for Rangers B last year.

 

Not been a fan of what i've seen from Taylor if I'm honest. Looks very slow and lumbering, when we also have Stubbs and Platt who aren't the most mobile, it screams issues to me. If thats our back 3, just play a quick lad, leave him on half way when we are attacking, quick transition by the keeper and our back 3 have no chance.

I'd be playing Odusina. Has looked good in pre-season, cant remember a fault from him, looks more assured on the ball than any of our other CBs which is kind of the point if you want 3 CBs. I get the feeling from Hughes that he is very much a child with toys. Once he's tried playing with it but prefers others, it's hard for that toy to make its way back to the sandbox.

 

I can’t say lumbering of Taylor , because I haven’t seen enough tbh. However Odusina will stay as one of the pool of 5 centrebacks. It would be suicide to release him knowing the potential pitfalls of the others , for various reasons. I’m with you on that front for sure.

 

Maybe MH has eyes on a new signing to come in, but need outgoings first?
