Decent thread on this guy's opinion on best transfer for each team... gives a good insight on some of the work other teams have done in the transfer market:

 

This wing back idea has disaster written all over it. We simply don’t have the WBs to play it especially on the left and we don’t have the pace in the CBs for that system either. Plus when it all goes wrong we don’t have any wingers to change it up.

Also every time we tried it last season it backfired.

 

the lad from Brentford is a very good wing back He was tried as one of the three centre half’s today but In the short time he was given in his preferred role put in the cross if the match for. We badly need a left sided wing back though

Agree with this, actually agree with a lot of what Park has said this summer.
A LWB and RW would be my priority signings now.

 

Who are our LWB options at the min? ridehalgh and Hendrie shoved there at a push as backup?

 

I would presume Oduor and possibly A. N. Other on loan, reckon he'd play Gillead there before Hendrie

 

Are you now convinced that wing backs is the way Hughes wants to play this season and its not just a case of familiarizing 'incase we need to switch'???

Playing all of pre season with 3 CBs and 2 WBs would be a bit strange if he goes to a flat back 4 against Crawley. Especially given we have 6 new signings learning the way Hughes wants to play - plus a few kids........

Appreciate he played a 3-4-3 yesterday as well.....

 

Ridehalgh and Oduor. One has signed a new deal, the other has just signed. Those demanding another LWB might well be disappointed.

You would think it is Halliday and Oyegoke fighting out for the RWB spot with Hendrie leaving.

 

Are Oduor, Pointon, Chapman and Smith simply invisible to you????

 

Puzzles me why some think we need more full backs based on what we have, even if Hendrie leaves???!!

Given we know we will operate with a leaner squad, struggle to think realistically what more newness will come in???

 

Both not good enough Border. It showed glaringly yesterday, both for their goal and the lack of attacking threat down the left in the first half.

 

Come on Kev - you are seriously ruling out Oduor as not good enough after 3 friendlies - 2 of which were against Getafe and Hull? Fella hasn't had a chance or settle into his new surroundings, adapt to how we play or even play a League match yet.

Squad is already looking pretty plump. I dont know where all the current players and 2 or 3 new ones fit into a match day 18.

Some folk screaming out for 'more wingers' and some are saying Pointon should get a chance. Cant have both tbh.

 

Never mentioned him, my reference was towards Ridehalgh and Hendrie. Perhaps you are mixing up someone else comments with mine?

 

To be fair to Oduor, he looked better yesterday than he did against Bury or Getafe so maybe he is starting to find his feet a bit. However, I maintain what I said after the Bury game, I've still seen nothing from him that makes me think 'yeah, there's a player in there, I can see why we've handed him a three year deal'. Hopefully he starts to really shine when it matters, but I'm yet to be convinced.

 

We haven’t seen enough of him to decide either way, but we have seen enough of Rides and Hendrie to confirm they aren't wing backs. Rides in a flat back four yes, Hendrie, sadly not for me in the squad.
