That Cook finish is a lot better than I first gave it credit for yesterday (and it didn't look too shabby then!)

You must give yourself a huge pat on the back for that. Well done you. Top man.

I agree, with us fans being in the opposite end we couldn't grasp just how good that goal was, it was nothing to do with the calibre of opposition, it was shear quality but Andy Cook who keeps scoring quality goal.
I do hope as a team we can give him better support be that crosses and assists or others getting well into double figures or there abouts, because as much as I'd love him to hit the high 20s its a big call, his record shows he scores at whatever level he plays but another 30 haul would be quite something.

Broncs a winger and another striker will help him.. He will need a rest again maybe. But a lot more chances will come from our midfield this year

Stuart Pearce, an accomplished international footballer and respected coach once put David James up front instead of a striker he had in the bench in a must win game.

We all get it wrong sometimes.

Sky sports news just had a feature on the Bury v Preston friendly.

“It’s the first time Bury have played at Gigg Lane in 4 years”

Sky sports news really are a joke at times.

I always thought Derbyshire looked a bit of a duff signing.

Alex Gilliead, though, I think you've gone a little bit too far myself.

I don't think he's an optimal player for a promotion push, but his versatility and energy when we're already winning (coming off the bench of course) should be absolutely fine.

He's far from the worst player we've got, but I did think we'd move beyond him this Summer.

    As a squad player?

    It is what it is.

As long as we get this messing about at the back out of our heads, we should do.

I'm hoping Taylor and the lad from Brentford will be more forward thinking than the likes of Platt.

Playing out from the back is clearly here to stay. The young keeper Richardson demonstrated this at Bury.

No issue with playing out from the back, just add a little tempo. It was far too slow and predictable last season and I think that was mainly due to the personnel not used to quick thinking and passing. As much a I hate to say it, Leeds under Bielsa played brilliant football at pace. Now I know we don't have that level of player, but we could inject just a bit more pace than we've seen so far. One other thing, Lewis could learn to hit low balls out to the wings rather than the head high balls that can't be controlled first time.

Yes they have. So why do some in here lambast fans and automatically suggest they must be wrong for "never being a football manager" whenever they have a differing opinion?

It's complete nonsense as has been proven time and time again yet people seem happy to trot out the same daft line as if it's bullet proof?

It’s a balance and you are right needs to have more tempo that’s all. What we are not is a hoof team , aimlessly lumping it up to the lone figure of Cookie being marked by three hairy arsed journeymen defenders.
Lewis, , the back three and the midfield player in front of the back three need to hit their first man on or around the halfway line, either through the middle or to one of the wing backs. A simple game , but needs to be at the right tempo.

I spotted that Hendrie got two assists! The pass to Cook was great and the cut back was great he looked for his runner.

I actually don't mind Derbyshire for similar reasons. He's clearly not a consistent starter but does offer something off the bench with his intelligence and experience.

I agree though I've gone too far with Gillead and I've said time and again he has all the abilities in his locker to be a decent player, he just seemingly too risk averse and lacks either the will or the desire to use them positively.

I suppose I'm just frustrated that he's got more lives than a cat as he gets shifted all around the pitch while still barely effecting the game.

Even against Bury (yes it's only 45 minutes and basically just a fitness exercise) I don't think he put in one decent forward pass, cross or went past a player yet the others playing in his position all contributed.

    Walker - goal
    Pattison - goal
    Odesebe - assist
and even Pointon, in half the time - assist.

That's not coincidence, it's just a continuation from what we see week after week, now, year after year.
