Talent aside - Do you prefer Gareth Whalley over Gary Jones?

 

I spoke to Mills for quite a while at the PL team dinner a couple of year ago. He came across as a really nice and genuine bloke and said to me that he definitely wanted to stay but GR was offering new players stupid money and the players that got them there very little.

As an example, I was told by another player that Moore asked for his wages doubling to £8k a week. We refused and replaced him with Weatherall on £18k a week.

 

Well I know who has the bigger legacy at City.

When Pickford was with us for that season Mark Prudhoe attended many home games and we were reminiscing at half time about his time with us.
He surprised me by saying there was a massive difference between what squad members were getting paid, the Legend not being one of the top earners and that was before Benni came.

 

Wetherall was a much better player so that made sense.

 

Moore was never given the go so it's difficult to judge but hindsight says you're probably just about right.

Always remember standing behind the dug outs at Wigan old ground (my old man Always went in the home end at away matches) when we played them.
