Sorry Norman but that is a silly question. The two go hand in hand. If the strikers aren’t good enough, we need better and if that means we have to bring in another, then so be it.

Besides, all of those were here last season too, as well as Poleon & McCartan. Didn’t stop us trying to bring in Dennis. We’ve only signed 1 striker this window, so I’d argue that we currently need to replace Poleon as a bare minimum and possibly one more.

Let’s not pretend that the likes of Patrick & Clare will be in the match-day squads

Well, yes, I was also thinking that where this model fails is that if they're close to the first team but not good enough to get in it then they need to be out loan playing games so they either improve or move on. We don't seem to want to send our players out on loan which feels a bit odd.

Keeping Wyke AND signing Doyle would really whet the appetite for the new season after some decent looking signings in defence and midfield

Again, completely depends on the strikers you do have. We have plenty in midfield with Curtis Peters and Daniel Devine, does that mean we shouldn't have signed any more midfielders?

Tom Clare and Omari Patrick are development squad. Then we have Kai Bruenker, enough said. Then we have George Miller and Alex Jones, the latter of whom, has been Mr Glass for the last 12 months. In any event, both struggle up-front alone. Either replace one or two of these with Doyle, and then a decent target man once Charlie leaves. Simple. I'm not suggesting 50 striking options.

EDIT: It looks like Doyle is a target to replace Wyke. Still disagree with it.

Says who? Remember, most of our reserves got dicked last weekend and have hardly been knocking down doors in other games against lower-League opposition.

Do you think it’s easy to get these players out? Would you take the likes of Patrick, Hudson etc?

“...for whatever reason” isn’t the same as “we don’t seem to want...”.

As I said, getting other clubs to take our poor performing reserve/junior players isn’t easy, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to or that we aren’t trying.
