I sometimes went to the Avenue with a pal who supported them, only if I couldn't get to the City away match. Is that Gerry Lightowler at the front?

I believe the one behind Lightowler with the cap on is Bobby Ham and the one at the back looks very much like Charlie Racketraw but he didn't join Avenue till after finishing at City in the late 60s.
Pat Liney at the back to the right of John Hardie.

Wibsey middle used to have a shail (is that the word)? all weather pitch.

It was absolutely brutal and falling over or actually sliding on it resulted in a blood bath!

That’s the one. I used to go there as it had a cellar place with good music. No beer as I was only 15 or 16.

St George's had one too, thunk it was originally for hockey but ended up being used for everything. We even played rugby on it once

I can't imagine playing rugby on one. It was bad enough playing football.

When I was at Priestman middle school in Marshfields we played against a school where Asda on Rooley lane is now(can’t remember the name)
The shale pitch was where the Asda petrol station is.
Never ended well and you certainly chose how you tackled very wisely.
